first time full auto

well i went on vacation to fl and stopped in a gun store called guns and knives in ft lauderdale florida. rented a hk mp5. it was a bit pricey 50 for the rental and i got 4 boxes of ammo, so total damage ended up being 120 bucks, but man was it awesome!!!!! never thought id get a chance to fire full auto but i did and i was all smiles. also let my dad shoot it and he thought it as pretty cool too. my wife was there but she whimped out said it was hurting her ears :( we didnt bring our own gear so we had to us the range hearing protection and they werent as good as ours.

im sooooo looking forward to trying some more nfa items out. i really want to find a suppressed ar15 in full auto now :)
 
I always wanted to try a Thompson. Saw one for rent a few years ago but couldn't bring myself to plunk down $100/hr just for the rental, not including ammo.:eek:

i shoot at guns and knives all the time, it's the closest range to home. i haven't had a chance to try out a full auto yet, but i'm sure i will give it a try some time soon now that you mentioned that my local guns store/range has them
 
hehe yea i dont post much but i read the forums everyday trying to learn more. i read here, combatcarry, thefiringline and ar15. i bought my first pistol bout 6 months ago and started ccw'ing it a few months later also bought a 22 mark 3 for my wife. lately ive been caught up in the world of the black rifle. i started by purchasing my first stripped lowers couple weeks ago. and i had hoped to go the sbr route but then i found out sbr's cant be done in my state so that idea is toast. and its back to the drawing board.

guns and knives had a few to choose from. i dont remember what they all were but i think there were was an uzi, mac10, one of those guns where the magazine comes out the side, and i think some sort of FAL., those are the ones i remember.

You can find local ones, relatively, by checking out subguns.com, or uzitalk.com and a few more. You might find out that some local people are going. You might be able to score some trigger time if you provide the ammo. Check and see if you can find anyone local going.

There is a range around here that lets you fire a UMP40 or an MP5 for $15 bucks and that includes 2 magazines. I fired the UMP and thought it was very cool, full auto is very cool:D

Shooting .308 rifle in full-auto is pretty interesting experience. My average is about 60% rounds hitting the BG @100m, various positions, with AK-4.

Haven't tried any subguns, though the MP-5 would be interesting, especially either A5 or SD6. I do have the chance to to feed some belts to FN MAG, ought to try THAT out, at least for fun factor.
 
They only time I ever shot FA was off the stern of a Navy warship back in the 70's.
It was cool, but we were just burning up ammo (.223) to get the feel of it.

I will always regret not buying a Vector Arms UZI (selective fire) when they sold them for $3500. Same gun now goes for twice that minimum!
 
See if you can't get ahold of a PPsh-41; they're the biggest hoot I've shot at 900rpm (blowback operated as well). Glock 18 with a stock is pretty nifty, too! :)

I don't call them automatic weapons; I call them controlled vibration giggle weapons. ;)
 
Back in October, we had a fund-raising shoot for our concealed carry political action committee. We had:

MAC10 45cal+suppressor
MAC10 9mm+suppressor
MAC12 380+suppressor
Beretta 12-9mm
Walther MPK-9mm
Thompson WH-45cal
H&K MP5-9mm+suppressor
H&K UMP45-45cal
UZI micro pistol-9mm

It was $75 to shoot as many guns as one wanted, and shooters bought ammo from the store. Some people shot all of them.

Most of the people there had never shot full-auto before, so we had some people with experience supervising.

I've never seen so many people with such big smiles all at once.

The MP5 was fun, but I really like the UMP45. More kick, I guess. Plus the holo sight made the gun very easy to keep on target.

By the time I got to the Thompson, it was either so dirty or it had developed a problem. When I let my finger off the trigger, it kept going. So, I just held on and held low. ;)

I had a full-auto Thompson for many years, but seldom shot it. I now regret having sold it, not because I'd shoot it more often than I did, but because I'll never be able to afford one again.
 
I still think if you want to rent and try a full-auto Thompson, appropriate range attire could be a pinstripe suit and fedora... ;)
 
a range I go to every now and then rents firearms for 20$/hr or it may be 20$ flat rate..

Anywho, you have to buy their ammo to rent it, but they have a FA thompson, never seen anyone shoot it, never shot it myself, but I want to go there as soon as I get my AK project completed and burn up 200-250$ worth of that one =)
 
The range here (CCA) has two MP5s (A2 and PDW) an Uzi, Colt M16, Thompson and two Glock FAs (18 and 20).

They rent for $25.00 flat fee, ammo extra.

Johnson City here. Actually, I might end up making a special trip. :)

My first and only FA was when I was in Army ROTC in college.
M-16 and M-60. I was the last one on the 60 so I got to blow through the rest of the ammo. 150rds instead of the 50 the other students got. :D

Where is this range? :what: Around here (Detroit area), it's something like $50 for semi-auto MP5 at the local range, and it's like $100 for full auto MP5. Ridiculous!
 
My first full-auto experience was

My first full-auto experience was an opportunity to put a 250 round belt of 7.62 through an M60 for a gentleman who did National Guard repairs. He had been asked to soften its recoil. He asked that several people help him put 5,000 rounds through it. I was amazed that at 100 yards, I was able to dance a soda pop can all over the place...of course until there was no more soda pop can remaining. The accuracy of this firearm was truly impressive! That same day he allowed me (all who wanted) to fire the following full-autos: M16; AR15 converted to FA; AK47; Uzi 9MM. SInce then I have also had the chance to fire a Thompson .45 ACP; MP5 with suppresser; and a Glock 18. So, my running list that I hope to add to looks like this:

1) M60
2) M16
3) AR15
4) AK47
5) Uzi
6) Thompson
7) MP5
8) Glock 18
