First Trip to a Gun Show

My boyfriend took me out to my first gun show this weekend in order for him to see me hold lots of different guns and to determine which ones I like. Since I haven't really been able to hold any guns outside of the ones he carries on his person. Initially I feel in love with the Sig 238 with the Rainbow Titanium finish due to the color, but found that the gun was much smaller than I thought it would be. Actually after going through all the various guns there, I have found that what felt the best in my hand were Glocks... I think the one that I did finally decide I liked was the Glock 22, but it might have been the 23, in either case whichever one it was, it was the one that had the rarer bullets for it, and essentially they are the same gun...this is of course based on what everyone tells me since I am new to this experience. At this point I have hit a road block, I have found the type of gun that feels good in my hands, and of course I know for my first gun I won't actually get all the color and customization I want (I think I might end up with my boyfriends old Glock), but I am in love with the color blue, and feel in love with this gun:
CIA MODEL 850 .38 SPL. SPECTRUM-BLUE-GOLD-PEARL "BLUE PEARL" REVOLVER IN TOTAL TITANIUM, but they don't make it anymore so it seems at this point to be hard to find. I would actually like a gun that is blue, but at this point have not been able to find one or a place that might even do a customization to put together what it is that I am looking for. I was curious to know if anyone had any good suggestions on where I could set my sights for something like this. I am not your typical indecisive woman, I know what I want, I just can't find it!

Now see if there are any ranges near you that let you rent different guns and see what feels good when you shoot it.

Er, it might be hard to find that purty titanium revolver to rent...but I think you are on the right track :)

Try/rent a Glock in 9mm, mdl 17/19/26 at the range and just shoot it, box or two at least.

Then give a Sig .380 a try, then back to a 9mm

Forget about the funny calibers-.40/357Sig etc for a first gun-
You need to learn control and don't need the extra pop or ammo expense.

Give it some time and practice then go rent something bigger if you want.

I think that was a Russian revolver they imported, until Clinton did the "no Russian guns" ban.

Rent guns and try some out until you find what you like, just because they look nice or feel ok in your hands, doesn't mean that they will shoot that way, and in the end it's how you shoot the gun that matters.

Consider a .22, or some thing like a CZ75, that has a .22 conversion kit. You will get alot more .22 trigger time, and it COST much less.
 
uh, CIA 850 is the Taurus version of the 442 S&W. Carry It Anywhere is the acronym. I have a Smith 637, Taurus calls it a model 85. Light, easy and safe to carry, but snubbies require a LOT of practice to shoot well past belly gun distances. A LOT. Upside is, once mastered, 'tis my understanding most any other handgun is tons easier to shoot well. Still haven't gotten there, so's I bought an EMP, once I track down some more 124 grn. Golden Sabers, or polish the feed ramp, it will be my EDC. Century is CAI, not CIA. "Century Arms International."

Don't let your boyfriend hear that you are in love with Sig. haha. Don't buy a gun on looks. A gun that looks good-cool might not shoot good or feel good. Rent some ones that felt good in your hand and narrow it down that way. Good luck and be safe. And in the near future think about a C.C.P.
 
I have always been pretty comfortable with Glocks. I think it is a good choice. The Glock 23 (medium barrel length model) is my favorite.
 
You can have your cake, and eat it too!
If you like the Glock, get it. Shoot it a lot and get comfortable with it, then send it off for Duracoat, or similar refinish.
