Man Injured at ex-girlfriend's home
September 5, 2003

Sparr--A man who allegedly entered his ex-girlfriend's home uninvited
and got into a confrontation with another man at the residence, was
subsequently shot in the left abdomen, according to a Sheriff's Office
report.

The man, Jake Z. Sims, Jr., 60, 1600 N. E. 36th Ave., reportedly went to
Jodi D. Weltzien's home, 1501 N. E. 97th St. Road, after 10:30 p.m.
Wednesday and saw Thomas C. Johnson, 49, 3034 N. E. 120th Street there.
Authorities say an argument developed between the men. Sims then shoved
Johnson up against a wall, the report stated.

Sims, officials say, then charged into Johnson, causing the .22-caliber
handgun, which was in Johnson's possession, to go off, hitting Sims in
the abdomen. Weltzien told deputies she dated Sims for about a dozen
years, but they've been separated for about three years.

Sims was taken to Munroe Regional Medical Center where a hospital
spokesman said he was in critical condition. Sheriff's officials say
they're going to review the case with the State Attorney's office to see
if charges will be filed.

How the heck does a .22 just go off? Did the guy feel threatened? Too many loose ends to this story, keep us posted.

Let's see, suspect breaks into home or forces way into home.

Suspect sees gun and decides to charge anyway.

Either suspect is so infatuated that he can't think rationally or he just needs to be Darwined out.
