Flash Hider - new S&W M&P 15-22 pistol

So how does one remove the flash hider without breaking the hand guard or upper or both?

There is no where to grip the barrel.

There aren't flats on the barrel? Huh.

Wooden vise jaws, or a leather workglove in metal vise jaws, should give enough purchase to break the flash hider loose. Hold the barrel, NOT the upper or the handguard.

Is it pinned?

It's not pinned, but it is "farmer tight" and if I clamp on the plastic upper I am sure it will break.

I have not looked at one but remove the hand guard.

A quick search indicates it requires a special tool to remove.
