Do you have statistics on how many CCW carriers committed crimes? I know Texas still compiles statistics. Do you where I can find Florida statistics related to crimes committed by CCW carriers? I know it's low but I need the information by state. Do you know any collected statistics by state?

Will any anti-Second Amendment groups have access to, or exaggerate such data?

People are not naiive about the very strong motivations to highly distort such ‘data’, or the many types of context.

The impatient tone of your questions -- especially on the day of the horrible tragedy in TX -- leads me to be Very Skeptical of your motivations.

There's usually a motive behind presenting information, bent one way or the other.

When I did a presentation back in college, IIRC 10% of Floridians had a CCL and by percentage, those with them were arrested for any crime at a rate less than 1/10th of non-CCL carriers, and less than a quarter of that of police.
This is just from memory, my sources may not have been perfect (I did try to vary them and disregarded any that screamed from either far side), but if you're trying to bend things... no, not many people are going to put their name, photo, and fingerprints in a database and then test if it works.

That was years ago, my sources may not have been perfect (I did try to vary them, and disregarded out any that screamed from either far side), but if you're trying to bend things... no, not many people are going to put their name, photo, and fingerprints in a database and then test if it works.

Can you give me links to the statistics for Florida?

Thanks for your information. There were only four states on a page with stats. I need more states.

Brand-new member arrives on a firearms enthusiast internet forum and asks for the dirt. Hmm.

After you do your Google stuff, you'll see that in some states, folks with concealed carry licenses have statistically committed fewer crimes (misdemeanors or felonies) that sworn law enforcement officers in those states. Kind of interesting, eh?

I noticed that your 4 posts consist of your obligatory intro, and 3 threads you started regarding: 1- "Universal" background checks 2- "moderate" gun owners and 3- this one, regarding Florida permit holders, and crimes- soft balling that into a larger quest for such stats nationwide. You didn't even specify what type(s) of crimes. Would crimes like parking violations, failure to yield, and burning yard debris without a county permit be the sort of data you are looking for? If it is, put me down on the naughty list, since I'm a resident of the great state of Florida, a recidivist pine straw burner, and a permit holder here. Your intro to THR stated that you support the 2A and that you want "us" to "breathe free". There's something "off" in your presentation.

You will most likely have to contact the state bureau of investigation or it's equivalent. Or the state police. You will want to talk to their crime analyst, and then you'd have to get lucky that they break it down like that.

It is unlikely every state publishes such exact data. Do some leg work and let us know what you find.
