Florida CCW Wait time Update

For those of you that are waiting for your Florida CCW to arrive, I have an update. My fiance sent in her application on Feb 3, 2009 and the check cleared my account on the 6th. The Permit arrived this afternoon, July 3rd. That means that the permit that has to be issued within 90 days (or three months) actually took just under 6 months...

I called today, asking to speak to a supervisor, to ask them about it and they said that it is 90 days from the time they begin PROCESSING the application. Technically they are withing the 90 day "shall issue" requirement with this and are still able to keep up with demand. It was not an issue, as I usually carry when we go out, but it is frustrating that it took this long nonetheless.

P.S. She looks Hotter now that i know she has that Kel-Tec by her side...(she has a small frame and wears tighter clothing...the P3AT is well hidden and she can shoot bulls-eyes at 10 yards)

I sent my renewal in May, I got it back within 22 days. They lost my first renewal, I sent the second by certified mail. That may speed things up.

PS. its in the front of her shorts. kinda unique (i think), we found it at a gun show. You cant tell a difference between it being there there and not...no I'm not taking a pic of her crotch for you...

I didn't know they will send me a renewal form either......guess a fedex might be good on a return renewal so there will be a receipt.
 
Arizona new CCW permits are running about 55 days (time to process and issue) from the date the application is received in Phoenix ... if the finger print cards are acceptable (machine readable). $60. Good for 5 years. Renewable after that. Nice system, good service.

Lots of applicants. People are getting nervous about the future I think.

Huh? You've blocked out her face and she is worried about her future LEO job going to someone else just because there's a pic of her online with a gun where her face isn't visible?

For the interview you must log in to any online thing you are a part of (facebook, myspace, and yes forums) and they view all of your posts. The know what i am a part of, because its all linked to my email. The face thing is more of a personal choice.

Back to my point in making the thread, the wait time for RENEWALS is significantly less, because they are prioritized. You should wait about 60 days for a renewal. That is if they don't "loose it"

I am in your neck of the woods, and I have not heard of a single agency doing that.
 
Florida Permits

The Lady who is in charge of that Dept; was at a meeting I attended last month, when you hear how the State tried to REDUCE! her staff, try to steal $6,000,000 from the trust fund, collected from the applicants, for G licenses (Security Armed Officers) as well as CCW applicants, it is appalling.

Despite all that, she was able to get a bunch of new employees, and train them.

Up to last month the issued permits exceeded the total of all 2008.

I forget the number of drums of mail, un-opened! Sitting in the basement at one spell, now they are day to day. Good advice was given above... Get renewal notice... Mail it in! Next day.

I hate to disagree but the governor temporarily stopped the xfer of $8M not $6M from the department and also allowed the hiring of 61 additional staff people, at request of
Mr. Bronson, to handle the additional applications. If the $8M is not encumbered funds by the end of the state budget year the funds are then transferred to the general fund as required by state statute. I suggest you review the state statute as it relates to the fund. It is not stealing and is done by local municipalities, states and Federal government; it is called managing the budget.

FS 493.6117 Division of Licensing Trust Fund.--There is created within the Division of Licensing of the department a Division of Licensing Trust Fund. All moneys required to be paid under this chapter shall be collected by the department and deposited in the trust fund. The Division of Licensing Trust Fund shall be subject to the service charge imposed pursuant to chapter 215. The Legislature shall appropriate from the fund such amounts as it deems necessary for the purpose of administering the provisions of this chapter. The unencumbered balance in the trust fund at the beginning of the year shall not exceed $100,000, and any excess shall be transferred to the General Revenue Fund unallocated.

Stealing?

Well if it was all above board, why the huge outcry against it? Including the NRA in force.

Constance N Crawford, Director Div; of Licensing seemed to think the funds collected directly from the Lic; applicants was to be used to fix the huge backlog, not into some slush fund, to help a shortfall of the billions, a drop in the bucket. And once it was used for that purpose, it would be gone!

As a G licensed Security Officer, I had an expired G license for longer than I would care to comment, even when the State info said my Lic was in force, it was not in my wallet.

It was an interesting meeting in an other matter, the same old misinformation surfaced, the .45ACP/Sig.357/.40 S&W Calibre, were much better than a 9mm, and private Security should be allowed to carry these superior semi-autos!

Which, are you waiting for it "Knock people down" 9mm just go on through and could injure innocents, hundreds of yards away, Hullo!

The failure to investigate, but most likely the NRA did not think, or care, if anyone would review Florida Statute

It is my understanding that the fund was set up to augment or completely offset the cost of the department/section that completes the gun permit applications and if there were remaining funds at the end of the budget year they would transfer to the general fund as does the majority of funds remaining in each department. The license fee is nothing more than a users tax and is just another source of revenue for the state. It is like the Obama "Value Added Tax" that you don't see in your annual tax bill but you will see it daily on just about every purchase in the future.

You'd actually (either one of you) consider working for an agency that was that invasive?

What happens when somebody joins a forum with the same alias that you use here and enters subversive posts? Are you in trouble?

I got my 4th renewal 6 months early in the mail, did it online, had it back in 6 days, I mentioned this once before I had almost 7 months left on the old one, but hey that's just one less thing I have to do later
 
Florida CCW renewal.
I was out of state and was having my mail forwarded, so the Post Office sent my renewal app. back to the state!!
Thanks Post Office...no wonder you lost over $7 Billion this year alone.
 
I made an appointment at the USDA in Tampa, paid my fee, tested, photoed and printed within 20 mins and got my permit in 10 days.
 
It's apparently getting better, I visited the D.O.A.C.S. office in Tampa, had my resident permit in 2 1/2 weeks.

It seems that if you go into their office and apply directly, you get the CWP faster.

If you go the easy route and mail it in, I guess you just have to wait.
 
Wow, and here I was a bit miffed at Denver taking 100 of the legally allotted 90 days. At least the state law here specifies that it's 90 days from the day I turn it in. If it were from the date they begin processing here in this city... my feeling is that processing initiation may take a while.
 
I did my initial resident application last month. I put my envelope in the mail 11-3 and had it back on 11-29, so a total of 26 days. However, that included both Veterans day and Thanksgiving.

Full timeline:

11-3: Permit paperwork mailed out
11-12: Payment check cleared
11-22: Permit issued
11-26: Permit recieved

Slower than average, according to the guys who ran the class, but not too shabby. If anyone is interested, by the way, you can definitely take the class, do the livescan fingerprints and photo and have everything ready to go before you actually turn 21. Despite what the grouchy lady at the sheriffs office might tell you. :)

I did mine in person at the Miami office and it took the same amount of time.

UTAH:
Sent the Utah application at the same time Florida was sent (see above for Florida wait time).

Today in the mail, Dec 24, 2010, I got my Utah CCW...about 42 days total from start to finish!
 
I wonder if I got the non-resident permit (I have a current Missouri one) and then moved to Florida, would the permit be good until such time as they actually issued me a resident one? Yeah, I have too much time on my hands, lol...
