Florida man stops robbery

OCALA, Fla. - A customer at an Ocala Internet cafe stopped a stick-up by shooting one of the suspected robbers.
Investigators said the customer sprang into action when two armed men burst into the Palms Internet Cafe on Friday night.

One of the men had a gun and the other was armed with a baseball bat. The two apparently demanded money from the 30 people inside, according to officers.

But one of the customers decided to fight back.

"This guy kept popping. He didn't stop. He just kept popping. I think he shot both of them and then they managed to get out of the door and started scrambling out the door, but we were so shocked," customer Neville Allison said. "We couldn't hardly move."

Police said the customer was 71-year-old Samuel Williams who fired his gun at the robbers and then chased them out of the door.

The suspects ran out the door after they were shot. Investigators tracked them down at Shands Hospital.

One of the suspects, Davis Dawkins, 19, told investigators that he was forced to participate in the robbery. He used to work at the cafe.

The other suspect, Duwayne Henderson, 19, is still in the hospital.

The two face attempted armed burglary charges.

I live in Ocala and we were just discussing it today down at the gun shop.
I've seen the surveillance video and it's hilarious! The 2 thugs run for the door at the same time and end up doing a "Laurel & Hardy" (when 2 guys try to fit thru 1 doorway and get wedged between) before falling over one another.
A Marion Co. Sheriff happened to walk into the gun shop not 5 mins. after I did and that's how I heard about it. According to him, the old man fired at the thugs and one of them took a slug in the ass.
I would of loved to have been in the ER waiting room at Shands when they walked in and said "I got a bullet in my ass!"

Though Henderson said he doesn't blame Williams for shooting, he takes exception with Williams shooting at him while he was down.

“I was down, and I'm not going to continue to shoot you,” he said.

Then maybe he shouldn't have been trying to rob the place with a gun? Too bad the old gent wasn't a better shot

It's great that more & more people are arming themselves, but you must have the proper training....
I went back and studied the video again and noticed that when the old man fired his 1st. shot there was an innocent standing directly behind the BG he was shooting at.
This thing could've gone wrong in a really bad way....

You guys, this is even on CNN!! I can hardl believe it, this is the first time they have shown a gun being used for good by a citizen! This is sure a breath of fresh air after the Trayvon incident, especially being in Flordia this made national news and maybe the 'duty to retreat' bill wont pass now!

They say internet cafe, but those places are casinoes, for those who don't know. They have the electonic slots, We have then in Vero and all over Florida. My buddy must go every other night, but he a l;ucky SOB, he also hi the lotto in MASS.I googled it to make sure he wasn't shining me on. He really wins a lot. He hit foxwoods for 130,000 also in one year.
Those places are full of cash, Most say no firearms , but latelly I don't see the signs. They most all have an armed gaurd with a wheel gun.
