The wife and I decided to spend some time breaking in a couple pistols this afternoon. She was shooting her Glock 19 and I had my Sig P320. We went to the Tripple N Shooting range run by the Florida Fish and wildlife department.
The cost was very reasonable at $15 apiece for the day, and a one and done safety video. The ranges themselves were nice and clean. The range officer staff on the other hand...there were 2 rangemasters. One called a COLD RANGE and said we could change targets, while the other one was saying the range was NOT cold and was lighting me up for starting to go downrange. I finally got that straight and posted my targets. We had a timer for how long we could shoot before the range went cold, and a timer for the range cold session. During the range cold session my wife and I were attempting to police our brass and got told we could "only police our own brass" even though that is exactly what we were doing.
Overall the shooting was fun, and expensive at $20 per 50 rounds, plus a quarter tank of gas getting there. I don't see us going back again as I don't care for public ranges, nor having a rangemaster that doesn't talk to his partner and confirm when the range is cold. The pistols performed without a mechanical hiccup, my wife had one failure to feed due to a limp wrist issue, and a few pieces of brass down the shirt. Now for the wonderful smell of Hoppes no. 9 and some gun oil.
