I hope y'all had a great nurse's week. As someone who recently left the ICU and ER for a day job in interventional radiology, I have to say the the reps spoiled us up here in MN last week.

:)

rnchick:

Please don't take anything I said in a negative way. I'm not much of a wordsmith. I have to take my foot out of my mouth all the time :). Welcome to THR and don't pay any attention to grouchy old men like me.

Rnchick, welcome to the forum! Thank you for your service to your country, and especially during 9-11-01. I think the pants are fine, BTW.

Great portrait, Oleg! Maybe a montage of several of these type portraits together with a caption of "what does an American gun owner look like?" would be a neat idea. Just brainfart...er storming.

What entropy said.

Welcome Rnchick and CJ,

Nice to have you aboard. I won't make any fashion critiques since my fashion plate is more like a paper plate.

(Very nice smile though)

Just Jim said: RNCHICK, what guns do you like and what guns are you qualified with? Kinda gives us a bit of knowledge as to what you know.

I currently carry a Glock 19 & own a Walther P22 for fun @ the range. I am open to learning just about anything. Unfortunately due to injuries to wrists and elbows, I have difficulty with recoil. What do I like? Shooting. :D

Several people commented about my profession
It's nice to see a lot of nurses and other medical professionals on board. I worked as a paramedic until I got my RN (though I still have my medic credentials - once a medic...always a medic).

No harm, no foul. But please don't compare me to anyone else. I come from a pretty diverse background - one that you have no way of knowing. I am not your typical nurse, medic, gun-owner, former military, etc. I am a very unique individual who has survived a lot of things - and flourished. That's what I love about Oleg's work. The models are not cookie cutter. They are real, with flaws; with real life experiences.

I am not a hero - I was only doing what I was ordered to do. But thanks for your support as it does mean a lot. I am proud to have been able to help in the small way I could have. I wish I could have done more.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I have been lurking for awhile...I guess I should have "come out" sooner! I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Guys and Gals, rnchick is truly a spectacular woman. She constantly impresses me on a daily basis. She is definitely not a cookie-cutter type lady. She is very unique. Knowing her as well as I do, I have to say that I find it amazing that she has not only survived many of the events in her life, she has come through them a stronger, better person. That says a lot about her.

I am very proud to call her my girlfriend. (So, all the rest of you guys quit trying to get a date. I'm well-armed. :D )

While she doesn't have a level of experience that many members here have, she has a strong desire to constantly learn and develop both her skillset and mindset. One thing is certain, she will never again be a victim.

She is, indeed, seriously cool. She's cooler than a Vickers with a full water jacket and hotter than a napalm strike (though not as clingy.) OEF_VET definitely scored a rare find. I don't think he has to worry about competition: he has some very unique advantages over the other contenders.

Gee guys - you are making me blush! :p

Thanks for the kind words sweetie

(you too Oleg)

hso is certainly not Fashion Qualified....

....of course neither am I. rnchick.....I certainly wish I had a better name to address you by[ edit, I just found that your first name is Cassandra ], as a Lady of the South should be addressed more formally, or at least until properly introduced. Mikey, also know as Monkey Boy Tn, or on this forum as hso, is certainly not qualified to critique Lady's fashion. I mean, take a look at HIM for goodness sake:p [Although Gwen has cleaned him up a bit]

rnchick, I'm certainly glad that you have found out about the enjoyment and satifaction of responsible firearms ownership. I met my girlfriend, also a RN, giving her a shooting lesson. She has gone from a beginner to a multiple gun owner in a short time. She is mainly a competitor[Sporting Clays], but has since become very interested in hunting and Self Defense/CCW. I'm glad to see that you have found a nice guy like OFF_VET to enjoy life with.....may you both enjoy your time together. If ya'll ever want to try a new shooting experience, "shoot" me an email, and enjoy a lesson on me!

RNChick, you look like a lovely lady, and if you want to wear three-quarter length pants, you wear em'

Maybe I should show these pics to my anti-gun wife, who also happens to be an RN. Except that she would think I am lusting after another woman.

Man, is it just me or did EOTechs get REALLY popular, REALLY fast?

It's like ACOGs were the shiznite last year, and this year it's EOTechs.

Pictures

Oleg..one request.... more pictures of the beautiful young lady in the tight red dress with the AK....OK..??

Welcome aboard.

Could we get some more information about the AK? (Yes, I'm enough of a gun nut to ask about the weapon, rather than the woman in a tight dress referenced above).

I would beg to differ...

in the labeling:
They are real, with flaws;
.

I would not view them as "flaws". A comparison: When my father died, we inherited his 30-30 'deer' rifle. The stock and finish of that rifle, which he carried every deer season for way more than 25 years, has many variations from how it looked when it came off the factory floor. I don't look at those variations as flaws but each is evidence of a walk my father took in the woods doing something he enjoyed.

Variations in the finish of people can be viewed in much the same way. By all reports (and photographic evidence) rnchick is a pretty wonderful person. That wonderfulness is a direct result of her past experiences. If those experiences have left variations in her finish (physical, mental, or spiritual) then they can hardly be looked at as flaws.

as always...one man's opinion.

migoi,

Good post. My thoughts exactly. As someone who has been through a significant number of hardships along this trip we call life, I fully appreciate the idea that variations are not flaws, they are simply the things that make us who we are, for better or worse.

buzz_knox,

The AK is mine. It is a Century SAR-1. It has had the following modifications done to it:
UltiMak rail systems, both ACR2 and the gas tube replacement
GG&G sling thing for dovetails on the left side
Vertical Foregrip
ladder-type rail covers over unused rails
barrel has been threaded and a slant-brake added when the ban died
EOTech 551
Specter three-point sling
Blackjack SWIFT notched safety lever
Blackjack buffer
Tapco G2 trigger to eliminate slap
Tapco SAW grip
AR-style stock adapter with 4-position CAR stock

I think that's all that's been done to it. I've changed so much, so often, as I tried to find what worked best, that I have a hard time remembering what I've done to it.

Good points - "flaws" was perhaps not the best choice of words. I stand corrected.
