Can anyone tell me if I could order up an FN SPR trigger-guard and mag for a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight?

For me, a problem of hunting with a floor-plate rifle in freezing temperatures is unloading....in gloves....and i'd like to simplify things with a mag, if the cost isn't outrageous.

I imagine that the pieces should be interchangeable....i mean, they're made in the same factory....but if they are, then why haven't they been offered? I'd think it would be a really logical, basic marketing step for Winchester.

This FN actioned rifle has the magazine.

This one is the box.

I don't see any reason why you could not buy a new trigger guard and use a magazine.

I don't like the magazine. Has one less round than the box. (why Winchester does not offer a ten round mag, I don't know) It is $50.00 a pop. The edges are sharp and cut my fingers when loading. It is easy to slide a cartridge out the back of the thing, and you will cut your fingers trying to clear the jam.

I can certainly see how in hunting it would be easier to drop the magazine.

I don't think you can buy the FN bottom metal for their DM. I bought a FN SPR with the DM and converted it to use a floorplate, so I know their is no physical reason why you couldn't do it. There is a guy on Sniper's Hide that has created bottom metal that accepts AI detachable mags, which is a much better system.
