I have owned 1911, CZ97B, Glock 27 and FNX-40 all in .40. I chose the FNX-40 model over the FNP-40 because IMO, the visual and mechanical design of the FNX-40 is superior. In fact, I believe the FNX-40 to be superior to any other polymer or steel frame pistol of any caliber sold today.
Mine fits my hand comfortably and allows for a tactile feel of the trigger that I do not get with other pistols. It is also friendly to clothing and holsters because of the smooth edges of its frame, slide, hammer and surface levers.
Its weight/balance ratio better buffers recoil than my other .40 pistols.
It is lighter to hold than the 1911 and CZ and less bulky than the Glock.
Its magazine’s capacity is greater than the others holding 14 rounds of ammunition.
The stock OEM 3-dot sights capture my eyes faster than the stock sight on the 1911, CZ or Glock.
It is more reliable than the 1911 and as easy to disassemble, clean and lubricate as any handgun I have owned.
My FNX has a hammer and thus is not a striker action model.
It has both an ambidextrous safety and decocker allowing me to carry it cocked and locked as I do a 1911.
I find my FNX more accurate than ANY handgun I have ever owned regardless of type, brand or caliber.
At this point in my handgun owning experience, I am biased towards FN and especially the FNX-40. I think it the best gun I have ever owned.
