    Greteings fellow vets!

Somthing I have been mulling over, in the 8 years I was in the army, I wore several patches on my shoulder. Of all of them, I accociate and claim the Big Red One as the patch I wear during Veteran's day or vet functions I attend. I have no reason why, other than maybe that is one I wear the longest.

Which ones do you guys claim and why?

    Mine in order:

No, Marines don't wear shoulder patches. If they did, you could be included

    Hi, carlrodd,

When I was with the First Armored Div., that was called the First Tank Bn. Same crest, though.

@ID: that was actually a point I was wondering: what year did Marines stop wearing patches?

Well before my time, but there are tons of older patches being sold by collectors, and even today they still make the patches.

I picked up my copy of the above 11th Marines patch at the PX in Camp Pendleton. Never knew quite what one is supposed to do with it, but it's cool to have.

Hey, it's not my fault the AF doesn't wear a shoulder patch. I did wear this on my fatigue pocket.

hi jim. my 1AD history is failing, as it was never my tip-top priority(we CAV guys tried to keep to ourselves), but i'm assuming that was some time ago.

Same as depicts. I was in Vietnam in 1968, with the 4th Infantry.

I ETS'd directly from there, but I was with other units before going to the 4th as an individual replacement. If I were to wear or display a shoulder patch today it would be the 4th, because it's the unit to which I was assigned when my service ended, and because it's the unit to which I was assigned when I was in a place where people might shoot at me. I always figured that ought'a count for something.

I'm kind of useless posting pics, but I wore the 82D Airborne, 6th ID (Airborne), and 172d SIB (Airborne).

    SAPPERS FOREWARD!

    AIRBORNE...ALL THE WAY!

    To upload images:

I wasn't at home to scan my patch in so I did a search on Google and found my patch, saved a copy on my computer, opened Photoshop (you can use any other imaging software) and sized it as stated below.

To post images set up a free account with http://www.photobucket.com. You can upload image files and copy and paste the http link from below the image into your post. Make the file size 72 dpi and about 4 inches tall or 5 inches wide depending on whether the photo is vertical or horizontal.

You can edit your post and add the link from photobucket.
