Some weeks ago I embarked on a rigorous scientific study to determine exactly how much fun could be had shooting.

Today's fun multiplier experiment was an unqualified success! It started with the hypothesis that fun increases geometrically as disciplines are combined. Our experiment was to combine tactical rifles, trap, 22 LR plinking and select fire. :D

in other words, shooting trap with a full-auto ar15 with a dedicated 22lr upper.

Conclusion: I HIGHLY recommend it.

Next week... I'm going to try to shoot a round of skeet using rat-shot. I may need to locate some of that wooden AR furniture to camouflage the gun so the shotgunners don't freak.

by my calculation, @ 25 grains / 22lr cartridge, it will take 19.68 cartridges to equal one 1 1/8 oz shell from a 12ga. To get maximum fun, I may need to do a mag change between birds on the double stages. :evil:
 
Not to rain on yur parade or anything but you do know those 22lr's do have to come back down to earth somewhere within one to two miles of yur position doncha? :cool:
 
I seem to remember a movie that had opening scenes showing high school kids who had combined surfing and skeet. "Top Secret?"

Of course, this was a satire...

Yeah, maybe. Then again if he shoots on a really non-windy day straight up the bullets will just drop on his head instead of his neighbors. Problem solved. :cool:

the velocity of a falling round is = to the maximum hight the round achieves times 9.8m/s per second. Thus any falling object cannot accelerate faster then the the force of gravity minus the resistance factor of the object. Thus no bullet fired straight up will land with the same velocity as it was fired. This is why people don't die during dove season as shot rains down on you.

However, the energy of an object in motion on a parabala is greater than the energy of an object starting from a velocity of 0 and accelerating at g

The problem with that statement:
The bullet has to be falling straight down
The bullet must have expended all ballistic energy.

Dove pellets are extremely light.
.22 rounds are not, and will cause harm even at distance.

But yeah, I know where you are coming from.
I just hope the OP was aware of the objects beyond the target.

Sounds like you need to get a handle on one of the full-auto Calico 100's...
