If one is purchasing an SBR that was registered years ago with "multi" for the caliber and barrel length, can it be transferred as such since its already registered that way? Or will the form four require the current barrel length and caliber configuration to be listed to be approved?

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in but since new forms don't allow multi anymore I would think even if it was done previously you'll need to add a caliber. (This of course doesn't mean you're restricted to that caliber or that barrel length that you put down).

Is it an AR SBR? I would Just put 5.56 or .223. Like the other commentor said, you are not limited to that caliber.

I was told over the phone and in writing they will NOT allow multi or multiple to be used on any forms. I was asking specifically about a Form 1 but I would tend to think they are going to make you enter a specific caliber. Might as well do it now and not delay the process any longer waiting on a rejection letter and making corrections.

I did however put in a form 1 for an AK SBR and accidently only put "7.62" NOt 7.62X39. I assumed it would be rejected but it was actually approved.

Well, it does say "caliber" not "cartridge" or "chambering." So you're more precisely answering the question that way, than by defining a cartridge. :)

Wow that's an excellent point. Not sure if it opens anything up but something to think about.

ATF just kicked a form 4 for a sear for the caliber being marked N/A, even though on the last form 3 it was marked N/A. Not sure how you can assign a caliber to a sear.

They do just want ".223", "5.56" etc and NOT "5.56x45" or "5.56 NATO".
