So, after all that research, I finally settle on the gun I'm going to get. It's a 3913, most likely a 3913NL. I found a guy not far away that sells quite a few of them. Police trade-ins at $325 each. At that price, I'm thinking I just might buy two. Particularly if I can talk him down to 600 for the pair. Comments on the price and/or my logic?

At any rate, I've done lots of research on them, but most of what I see on them is several years old.

Is it still possible to get all the various parts for them from S&W?

Should I replace the springs?

I would like night sights. Any recommendations on good ones?

I'm looking to carry IWB around the 11-2 o'clock position. Any holster recommendations on this?

Are the grips replaceable? I see Hogue used to make wood grips, and I like wood grips. :) Are they still available anywhere?

Does anyone make a decent laser for these that doesn't require a rail to mount? I'd love some Crimson Trace, but I don't know if their S&W grips will fit.

Thanks, everyone. Now it's just a matter of counting down the days to my birthday. :banghead:

It looks like a great choice for concealed carry. I like the fact that it's 9mm instead of 380. You should be able to find what you need. Midway USA is hard to beat for accessories. Enjoy your birthday!

Great price on thefinest CCW single stack 9mm ever made, IMO.

If he has a bunch, please PM me his contact info. I could use a spare! TJ

I loved my 3913LS. They were produced new as late as 2007 (that I know of), so parts and service from S&W should be available for years to come. There will also be plenty of used parts available. Also, a number of parts interchange with other 3rd gen. models.

Great gun!
On the holster options id ask in the sub forum: http://www.thehighroad.org/forumdisplay.php?f=51
11-2 oclock is usually referred to as appendix carry and generally you want a IWB single clip leather holster thats as small as possible but still covers the trigger.
Many options out there so start a post in that section and you will get many suggestions.

Nice find. I just added a 3913 to my collection and intend to use it for concealed carry.

You can also find some parts here and here.

I'm a fan of High Noon holsters -- here's one you can order for appendix IWB carry: http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/_Mr_Softy/_mr_softy.html

The 3913 I bought came with a bunch of extra springs -- let me know if you have problems finding recoil or hammer springs, I can probably part with one or two of the ones I have.

My 3913 came with Hogue rubber grips, but I plan on putting the OEM grip back on. Again, let me know if you're interested.

Enjoy...

Thanks everyone. I still have a little while to go until the magic birthday, but I'm so close I can taste it.

Thaddeus, I'll PM you the guys info when I get home and have his card in front of me.

AJ, thanks for the offers, I'll let you know once I get my hands on the new (to me) gun(s). In the meantime, thanks for the holster recommendation.

I carry my 3913NL in a Lobo IWB holster and carry 2 extra mags in a Safariland mag holster. The load I carry are Gold Dot 124 gr.+P. I think S&W has night sights for the 3913. PM me this guys info. My daughter have been trying to wiggle my 3913 from me ever since I bought it. She has my revolver but she's like me. She wants another and another and another. The thing is I'm the one paying for them.

Sounds like an excellent price. My preference is for the 3953, which is the DAO version of the 3913. Its even thinner since it doesn't have the safety/decocker on the slide. If your preference is DA/SA, the 3913 is an excellent choice.

No problem, just shoot me a PM if you want/need anything.

Alabama Holster Company makes Kydex holsters for the 6906, they might make one for the 3913 if you ask them.
