Yes, as per usual for all .22LR other than premium. . . you just never looked closely.

Can't comment on polymer coated vs wax or copper wash but polymer coating is outstanding in centerfire applications under ~1300fps or so.

Yup. These Aguila bullets will twist in the case when new. I pulled one to show the full-diameter of the bullet above the case, and the wasp-waist where the crimp holds the bullet in the case. The crimp is between the visible portion of the bullet and the smaller-diameter heel thats hidden inside the case:

Have you shot any ? If so how did they do ? I have a whole bunch of them and not tried them for fear of messing up the seasoning in my barrel with something other than lubed lead .

I had no problems, but just plinked with them, no attempt at seriously accurate shooting.

They ran through both my Buckmark pistol and Marlin semi-auto rifle just fine.

Perhaps he "buys" them first at regular prices, and then "sells" them privately at double the Wal-Mart price. No wonder the ammo shelves are always empty.

I did pick up 5 of the 325 Rd boxes of Fed Auto Match from 2 different Walmart stores a couple weeks ago. Donated 2 to be auctioned off at my family reunion, and bid them both up to $20 to buy back. One sold for $27, one for $29...so they brought more than I paid.
That makes up for the $80-some dollars worth of auction crap someone got last reunion and didn't pay for. Guess if ya steal from family, you'll probably steal from anyone.

^^^This. "Heeled" bullets have the same diameter as the case it is used in, thus it needs to be crimped in the smaller base to hold it in place. With soft lead bullets it takes little more than shipping across the state to loosen this crimp to the point that the bullet may wobble or can be turned in the case. They still fire just fine with no reduction in velocity or accuracy. Bulk ammo packaging is more suspect than those that are packaged more securely. Bet you can't pull them out of the case very easily.

I have shot a lot of wiggly .22 ammo. I've never had any issues.

I've never conducted more scientific accuracy and precision testing at longer range, but it isn't a problem for casual plinking or close range pest control.

I was in Walmart yesterday getting a couple loaves of bread ahead of the hurricane, walked back to the sporting goods register and they had exactly four boxes of 12ga shells, no other ammo of any kind. The gun display had one shotgun and four camo-stocked bolt actions, didn't look at them closely, that was IT.

well, i finally got a chance to do some shooting today. i shot 30 rds of the cci clean 22 that i bought at walmart. there were no failures to feed, but i had one round that failed to fire. i also shot about 30 rounds of remington golden bullets that i bought about 10 years ago and one of those failed to fire. i also shot a bunch of cci minimags in 36 grain and 50 rounds of blazer. to start, i fired 10 rounds of cci 40 grain minimags to warm it up.

so i learned something about accuracy today! shooting at about ten yards, the first 10 40 grain cci hit where i was aiming in an area that could be covered by a paper plate. i was quite pleased with myself, but that didn't last long. pretty much everything else was about 2" low and 3" to the left. or more. very interesting.

i was shooting my wather-colt 1911-22. no failures to feed at all. i guess i've put around 300 through it now.

i love it, it's fun to shoot. i've put around 300 rds through it with no failure to feed or eject and most of that was cheaper stuff, 36 grain.

there's one thing to know that might come up - the 1st day i had mine home, the thumb safety stuck "on". it wouldn't budge. then it did. i think i just rattled it around a bit and it shook loose. this was my 1st experience with any 1911, i didn;t know if i'd done something wrong or what... anyhow, i have not any further problems at all. but i have read somewhere or other of this happening in this model. there's apparently a burr on something. just shake it if yours does it, hopefully this won't happen to yours, but if it does, you'll know it isn't uncommon.

but i think you will have a ball with it!

I've found CCI std vel in our local Walmart recently for $3.67. I have 2 boxes of CCI quiet + I shot about half the first box. Rifle was a Ruger American Rimfire w/Vortex 3X9 at 25 yds and each 5 shot group was about 5-6" in dia. They all went bang, fed + extracted flawlessy, but I won't use those for anything now except backyard plinking out of my Wrangler. They were almost as bad as the Aguila Colibri but much louder. I'm not sure what the intent was for these rounds by either mfg. But, I won't shoot anything that I have no idea where it's gonna impact.

The CCI quiets shoot dime sized groups at 25yards out of a beat up old Savage MK2.

i am going to haunt cci's site and catch the 40 grain minimags in stock and order 1000 (please, don't mention this to my wife). it is striking how much differently the 36 grain performs. this is a new phenomenon to me, not having really shot enough in times past to observe things like this.

The last ammo shortage, 2008 I think, CMP had Aguila .22 lr on sale, 5000 rds for $225.00 for standard velocity, and 5000 rds of Hyper Vel for $195.00 about two weeks after that and I bought both. In my Marlin 60 the standard vel sometimes doesn't egect and I have contributed that to my recoil spring which is the original. The Hyper Vel works fine in my auto loaders, although the ammo is very dirty and has a rank smell, it goes bang and is fairly accurate. I use the standard stuff in my 22lr revolver, works fine. Thought I got a hell of a deal cause I can remember when I was 10 or so I could get a box of Winchester 22's for around .50 cents for 50. I removed a broken screw for this guy who came about 50 miles to have the work done, very tiny screw and he paid me with 5 each 100 round boxes of CCI Mini-mags. I have about 20,000 rounds of 22 ammo. Not a hoarder, but rather when I see a deal on ammo I can't pass it up. I store all my ammo in filing cabinets which I have made 1" x 1" steel angle frames for and put 1" casters so I can move them when I want. I get the filing cabinets at our County surplus site. Every county sells their older stuff at incredible low prices. My most expensive filing cabinet cost $40.00 and they make great storage units especially since they are metal.
