I have heard many times now that Thompson was connected to the CFR. I didn't know what that meant so I did some research. CFR is the Council On Foreign Relations. They've apparently been around since 1921 and feature prominently in a number of NWO conspiracy theories as you'll find out if you google CFR. I won't touch any of that because it is well outside my sphere of interest and knowledge.

Sticking with the facts I see that Thompson has been a member since 2002 and the CFR has issued a number of very disturbing reports, not the least of which is the "Building a North American Community" document. You can download it for free from the following link.

http://www.cfr.org/publication.html?id=8102

It is more North American Union propaganda, fitting right in with the proposed NAFTA superhighway. At the very least this is a bad idea, at the worst it is a serious threat to our sovereignty. I do not see a direct link between Thompson and this specific document but it is typical of the CFR and his membership in such an organization does call into question his credibility on immigration and possibly even loyalty, especially in light of his vote on the H-1B bill and positive commentary on globalization. It does appear that outsourcing jobs and insourcing labor is on his agenda.

As far as serving in the military I would like to hear more about that. The only thing I've been able to find regarding Thompson and military service are his many roles as an actor. What I have read is that he avoided service during the Vietnam War through college and grad school. There was a time I would have looked harshly on this but seeing things through wiser eyes I can't really fault anyone for wanting to avoid getting caught up in a pointless, poorly managed conflict.

It does look like he's ok on taxes and guns, and his supporters like the way he presents himself. A bit of a wild card right now is his cancer, health has been an election issue before and it may well be again. I have a nagging suspicion in the back of my mind that his lymphoma may well be what is making him hesitant to officially anounce his candidacy.

I haven't managed to find anything so far that really distinguishes him from the current crop of republicans in office but in the end that might be a positive for Thompson. People often fear change but will accept more of the same.

helpless, it may very well be outside of your current level of knowledge but surely should be part of your INTEREST - as it well should be of interest to EVERY American.

Their "mouthpiece" is the bimonthly magazine titled FOREIGN AFFAIRS.

NWO? It was George Herbert Walker Bush who first brought that term to my immediate attention. And he used it more than once. It has also been used in numerous articles in the early 90s in Foreign Affairs. If one gives a damn he or she could do a search on the CFR and, more importantly, it's predecessor. One should become familiar with it's stated goals. Again, that's if you give a damn. The same assignment should also be done for the Trilateral Commission and The Bilderbergs - who are meeting in Istanbul, Turkey this year.

I take it that most will find this material distatesful to their delicate senses. But there it is.

Take a look at the UN, GATT, WTO, NAU, NATO, Kyoto Accords (which we are gradually adopting, btw) and all but the blind and deaf should be able to see the blatantly obvious.

Those who laugh aren't up to speed at all. Nothing is new under the sun.

Actually that was me, not Helpless who said the NWO conspiracies were outside my sphere of knowledge and interest, Helpless was just quoting me.

It's true. I don't know much about them and they just aren't my cup of tea. I am interested in the sovereignty of my republic and avoiding entangling foreign alliances and it really doesn't stretch the imagination at all to understand most politicking is done behind closed doors between groups who have long been in bed together for exchanges of money and influence. I mean, isn't that practically the very definition of politics? The only thing I need to know here is that Thompson's a member of a group who actively advocates exporting American jobs, importing foreign labor and increased border porosity and he has voted in a manner consistent with that agenda as well as proudly admitted to as much in interviews.

If you chase out the snakes that are selling us down the river you inherently combat any other shennanigans that may be going on behind the curtains.

Yea, George Washington & our Founding Fathers could lecture you on the Illuminated branch of Freemasonry as well as it's founder Adam Weishaupt since they were all contemporaries...

You think they knew something that you don't due to the MSM derision of anything that may upset their applecart? Just a thought. Not trying to be rude.

Oh, if you want to talk about freemasonry that is something I know about. I used to work for a lawfirm. You didn't get anywhere inside the courtroom or out of it unless you were a member of the little club. I invite anyone who finds themselves in downtown Tampa, Fl to take a walk past the courthouse. It is public and easily accessed, this supposedly government building is dripping with weird little masonic symbols. About two blocks down the street from the couthouse's front door is their little clubhouse. The building I worked in was right across the street and my window faced it. You could regularly see attorneys, judges and other officials coming and going.

As I said, it doesn't stretch the imagination at all to understand that these stupid cliques are simply how politics gets done.

Yup, Chui; George Washington, a senior and well-respected Mason himself, warned us against the "illuminated" variety.

I think we should measure all candidates for Prez against the Original George, as I have read that the description of the Presidency in the Constitution was written with him in mind.

P.s. He also established the style and title of ex-presidents, insisting on being addressed as General Washington after leaving office. I try to adhere to the example he set, and refer to Poppy Bush as "Ambassador Bush" and that Billy Jeff person as "Governor Clinton."

Edit: Changed "Bill" to "Billy Jeff" so as to be more pejorative to Governor Clinton

Oh, another thought...

The only thing a non-member can know for sure about a member of a secret society is that said member does not mind belonging to a secret society. The member might be more easily recruitable to another secret society than the general run of people.

M'self, I belong to the Order of the Arrow, which is unique in that its members are selected by non-members. Unfortunately, I have long since forgotten all of the secret rituals and things. The ordeal was interesting, though, as I had to do it in FL and we were not allowed mosquito repellant.

He is a real common sense type of guy and not a professional politician! he sound just like one of us.

Okay, Paul supporters, when you start bringing up the Illuminati, Bildeburgs, the NWO, Adam Weisphet, the Masons, Black Helicopters, Cecil Rhodes, the Gnomes of Zurich, The council of 300, cattle mutilation, the illuminated ones, and the Reptoids of the Hollow Earth, the average American voter is going to look at you like you are a freak and a kook.

And since you've appointed yourself as an evangilist for Ron Paul, by extension, you paint him as a freak and a kook.

So you ain't doing him no favors.

I'm not even addressing if you're right or not. So don't get your panties in a twist. Let's say you're totally right, and there is a massive battle for world domination going on right now between the forces of Majestic and the Illuminati.

Don't matter. The people who vote don't think so. And no matter how many times you tell them they're stupid and hate freedom, it don't score your guy anymore points.

If you want to win an election, the best way to do it isn't by having people associate your candiate with kookery.

So please, CHILL OUT.

Umm, Correia?

I've given up on Ron Paul this time, though I did vote for him the last time he ran. As I wrote in a comment to a post at Chapomatic, I think it was, socialism or libertariansim would work just fine if everyone were autistic.

Unfortunately, 90-some percent of people are rather normal, which category includes lots of easily-led silly doo-dahs, a smaller number of right awkward bastards, and an even smaller number of easy-going smart reasonable people.

I think that Mr. Thompson's TV presence will help him get the silly-doodah and awkward-bastard vote, and that the sensible folks of whatever neural configuration will recognize that he's the best we're likely to get under the current system.

Who was it who first said, "The best is the enemy of the good."?

I really don't remember.

Wow.... and the topic is.... nowhere to be seen.

Fred Thompson, anyone? Why him? What do the Fred lovers really see him doing for the country on:

immigration
taxes
welfare/medicare
UN
interstate commerce
war against global terrorism/islamofacism
etc. etc.

I would ask again that we leave other candidates out of the discussion as this thread is purely meant as an exploratory thread for Fred Thompson as a potential candidate. If anybody has any facts or positions that describe Thompson then by all means cut loose with both barrels.

Sure, because only a wooly-headed conspiracy theorist could possibly have a philosophical disagreement with the CFR. And pointing out that the candidate in question is a member of that group is certainly outside of the bounds of permissible political discourse.

Thanks for keeping the rif-raf in line, Correia.

I seem to be learning all kinds of stuff this morning. Is there anyway we can make a separate ''X-Files'' threads and just have political and legal discussions here? I am sure the truth is out there and all I just am not very interested in it when there is already quite an open conspiracy to deny me of the Bill of Rights already. I just don't have time to figure out how the aliens are enslaving us and Gog and Magog are going to release the horseman of the apoclypse when the govenor of VA tells me I am stockpiling ammo with a single small box of shells.

Why Fred?

Folks perceive another Reagan.

And the rollers think he'll go with 'em...

What's a roller?

bogie's anti Christian right wing feelings slip out occasionally, he is referring to Holy Rollers.

In this case I think he may be incorrect though. I seem to recall reading about some spat between Thompson and James Dobson.

Dobson doesn't feel that Fred is really a practicing Christian or some such stuff and I believe is backing Romney.

Sure, because only a wooly-headed conspiracy theorist could possibly have a philosophical disagreement with the CFR.

Hey, man, I don't like the CFR either. But when the Paulistas bring up the Illuminati conspiracy in normal conversation, the average voter says, "Huh?" :uhoh: And walks away, fast.

Correia...

"Reptoids of the Hollow Earth"...you *do* listen to Art Bell. That came from an interview with Red Elk, I believe.

I don't listen though.

Biker

Mel's Hole, haven't thought about that in years.

The problem I have with voting records is that it's about impossible to really know what's in those bills (yes, the wording is right there, but I don't have a decrypter for that sort of thing). Hope Thompson takes votes from the others and leaves Paul's die hard votes intact.
