Ft Worth Gunshow

Went to the Ft Worth GS on saturday with the express purpose of buying one of the new Taurus 44 special lightweight revolvers. None were found and most dealers hadn't even heard of them. One dealer said he could get them but didn't have a price. I may call him next week and see how much.

What was strange was how few Taurus guns were on the dealer tables. Normaly the big dealers have a large selection but not this time. The most seen Taurus was the judge, a gun I have absolutly no use for. So are all the internet complaints about Taurus quality having an effect on the sales? I won't buy one without having it in my hand to check out. I have a steel model 85 that is just about perfect with an action that is so smooth it has to felt to be believed.

Has anyone seen or shot one of the new 44 specials?

More than likely, the dealers don't have a bunch of cash to invest in stock.

Regarding Taurus revolver quality, unless they have turned things around in the last five years or so, it's not good. Out of the half dozen or so Taurus revolvers I've owned/shot, only one had a useable double action trigger.

I don't know. Looks like they had plenty of stock and not a lot of it moving. Thats the first GS I have been to in about 8 months. I sorta remembered why I quit going. I walked ever aisle. No beanie babies and not a huge amount of jerky. I wasn't looking for them either.

Ammo prices were up. I was going to get a couple more boxes of Fiocchi 25 auto and the dealer that did have them for $14 a box now wants $22 a box. I passed. The good thing about going makes me realize that I already own a bunch of nice guns. I did buy a speed loader for my security six.

I went to an gunshow here in Tn for the first time in 5 years. Oh my how high the prices were. I get better deals at my LGS. The only thing I found was some LSWC in .430.
