Before you consider the legal requirements, are you prepared to pay at a minimum $4-5K, and more likely $7-10K? If not, then the rest is moot.

Ya gotta work with a Class 3 full-auto dealer, for one thing.

Fingerprints, mug shot, signed off by local police chief or sheriff.

$200 non-refundable tax/fee to BATFE, along with all paperwork and proper forms; wait (hearsay) three to six months. Dunno how thorough is the background check on you but there is a background check.

Here in Vegas I did not have to go through a dealer at all because the seller was also from here. We did anyway so that everything got done correctly but we did not transfer the gun to the dealer - the seller still has it until the approval comes through.

It's not a hard process - you pay the huge money for the gun, fill out the paperwork. Go get pics taken and fingerprint cards also. Have the CLEO sign off on it and send it all in with $200. Wait. :)

All of this supposing that it's legal in your state?

Those of here in Illinois are all mad-dog killers at heart so we have been protected from blowing the kids college fund on a Sten Mk III that cost about $7 to make but now costs $5,000+.

There are other states where Class III is not even an option too. I don't know about you folks behind the Cheddar Curtain but I'm sure someone here will know for sure.
