Last sunday Richmond Rod and Gun hosted their bimonthly IPSC match.

I shot my modified XD40.

The match was a pretty good one, albeit rather long. The first stage we shot was a classifier, called Nuevo El Presidente. This El Prez had a few distractions, namely the presence of "Hard Cover" and "No Shoots". Hard cover blocks part of the target, and hits on it count as misses. No Shoots represent hostages, and shots on them ruin your score for the stage. These slow down even the fastest shooters.

I shot the course with the unspectacular time of 10.47 sec, but I shot the targets almost clean with only one C hit out of 12 shots fired. On this stage I shot 19th out of the 57 shooters. Sadly enough this was my best stage :).

The other stages were pretty standard, with a few exceptions. "Gunar forget his meds again" featured a "Swinger" that had a no shoot stapled against it, so if you were an 1/8th second late getting your shot off you'd hit the no shoot. I managed 2 A hits on it without hitting the hostage :)

Here's me engaging the first set of targets 30 yards away:

Here's me engaging the last array:

One stage, "Reno Trouble Makers" required 45 rounds of ammo to complete the stage. Running through the stage in away that required no standing reloads required all six of my magazines. Unfortunatly as I got out of the gate one of my mags fell from my mag holder leaving me with 5 mags. I ran through the stage unaware of this until I reached for my "last mag" and it wasn't there, I said, "****", ran back, picked up a half empty mag off the deck, sprinted to the last array, cleared them and managed to pull out a repectable time, all things considered :).

I did fairly poorly overall, but was #1 out of 7 production shooters :)
Maybe I've found my niche.

Glad to hear you had a good time. I shot our monthly match this morning and I had a great time. Gotta love the shooting sports.

I just completed my second USPSA match earlier today. It was a blast! It was located at a local law enforcement training range complete with a Hogan's Alley setup. That was more fun than a barrel of monkeys! :) I shot all 24 As for the first time in my four month shooting career but was anything but blazingly fast.

Now shoot 22A's and 2C's but go 33% faster :)

Actually considering you've only shot for 4 months, thats amazing to get all A's, good job.

Glad you had a good time.

Ipsic is always enjoyable. Around here we say "Run & Gun & Have Fun!"

At a local match two weeks ago we had a bunch of IDPAers show up. After the first two stages some of them started complaining that we were shooting more rounds on one stage than they fire at an entire IDPA match! We told them, "That's why USPSA shooters are better. We get more practice." :neener:

I am glad to see that I am not the only one using a XD to shoot production. You should think about sending your XD to Rich at Canyon Creek. He does amazing work on XDs. MY new XD has really helped out my times and scores.

Did the Glock guys give you a lot of crap? They are always razing me like crazy. I am coming back this year with vengence, so they won't be laughing any more.

Here is a link with some pics of my new XD.

Good Luck

Sounds like a great shoot - my last IDPA was also a great enjoyment. I notice your target holders have the same sideways lean ours do! :p

My shoot, the wind was making one of those go side to side - made things more interesting!! ;)

The photos clearly show that IPSC is the most realistic shooting game going. Clearly this stage was intended to illustrate what to do if three armed drunks assault you.

Can we just stop it with the 'my game is more real than your game' crap for ONE FREAKING THREAD.

ENOUGH. WE'VE HEARD IT ALREADY.

You don't like it? Stay the hell home.

Now that I got that out...

We had our monthly IDPA match (classifier) on Sunday in the absolutely, and I mean absolutely, pouring rain. It took forever. My boots filled with water and I might as well have been shooting in a wetsuit.

But we had 24 people stick it out :) Crazy people shoot these games. Complete nutcases all of them.

Man, that is a fantastic acomplishment for a newbie. Congratulations!

Sucka please...I already did, last december. :)

Tricked XD40

IPSC doesn't teach you to fight, grasshopper, IPSC teaches you to be fast and accurate. ****GONG*****

Damn it I always miss all the good XD threads over here.

I am planning on sending my XD9 out to get chromed too. I had Rich Gun-Kote it, but the GK is not holding up against my Fobus holster. I am sure I will have pictures of it when it gets back from Tripp.

Atek what holster are you using??

Krag when you get your new XD pro please post some pics. I would also love to hear how it shoots. I am considering buying one towards the end of the year.

Thanks

Sturmruger - I shot it today. With W-W white box and my 170 gr. lead handload I was getting five shot groups under 1 1/2" at 15 yards from a rest. Dang..... :what:

Will try and take some photos tomorrow.
