After waiting for the gun, and then waiting for the ammo, and then waiting for my schedule to clear up, I finally got to try out my Fusion 10mm.

Ammo was Georgia Arms canned heat 185 grain. I ran 150 rounds through the gun, no issues at all, everything fed and ejected as it should.

After some initial playing on the short pistol range, I decided to give it a go at 40 yards and 70 yards. The plan was to eventually get it out to 100 yards but I ran out of time. This is probably for the better, as I probably need some more work at 70 yards.

The target posted was 5 shots from 40 yards off the bench, and the group measures about 2.25" which I'm pleased with, especially since 4 of them are pretty tight. The target was on the center of a piece of paper and I was more aiming at the paper since the sight was covering the whole shoot-n-see target.

I didn't want to make the range cold to collect the target at 70, but I was all over the paper. I'd guess in the 7" range for groups, but I have a feeling the gun can do a lot better, I just need to practice longer distance with pistols. It is possible the group was much larger, because I either hit near the same hole twice or completely missed the paper with a shot. Not sure which. It is odd checking the spotting scope after shooting a handgun. I've shot lots of steel at long ranges, but all I've ever heard was the ping from the hit. It is a bit different trying to shoot paper for groups.

Next step is trying to hit what I'm aiming at inside of 50 yards from field positions. Now that I know the gun will do it I've got something to shoot for.

Overall I'm really happy with the gun. Bob was great to work with for the whole process.

I've shot several, this is the first 10mm I own.

I'm not sure if this is what you are asking, but I sold two .357 revolvers and got the 10mm to sort of replace their role in the safe, so I associate it with the .357.

Recoil wise, I didn't find it snappy or unpleasant at all. I didn't have a .45 to shoot next to it when I was at the range, but it seemed like shooting any other 1911, which to me feels pretty nice.

Awesome gun, I love my Fusion 10mm longslide. The 10mm is no joke out of that gun, I took a Buck over the winter with mine at approx 70 yards. He jumped, hopped probably 5-6 times, then stood still for about 10 seconds and dropped dead. That was with handloads, 180gr Golden Saber with 11gr of Blue Dot that chrono's at 1280fps out of the Fusion ... that's some serious energy, and just a bit of primer flattening. I could probably push it even faster, but no need.

I'd love to mount up a scope on mine and see what it could do at 100 yards. Here in MO we don't get many 100+ yard shots, I doubt I'll carry a rifle again for deer season.

If that Fusion shoots half as good as it looks it will do GREAT... I have just got a Glock 20 tricked out for playing around with and its starting to get there...The red dot really helps to keep the bullets in the same place... IM000540.jpg

MT GUNNY, the 10mm is about the same as a 41 mag. Hope this helps. Very nice gun and welcome to the 10mm world.

Wow! That's awesome waterhouse. Just what the 10mm needs, even more barrel length!:D Try any Doubletaps in it yet?

I went through several S&W 41 AND 44 mags before I settled on the 1911 in 10mm as my hunting sidearm and woods walker. If I could have mastered the double action revolver would have saved a bunch of money. The 10mm is a great combination of power and is relatively easy to shoot thus increasing accuracy.

Same here, except with .357s. I tried several barrel lengths and brands (thus different triggers) of revolvers, but I could never shoot them quickly with much accuracy. I've got a lot more trigger time on 1911s.

I probably could have spent a lot more time and become proficient, but I've always wanted a 10mm anyway.

Not yet. I just ordered some, but I doubt I'll shoot them for a while. I'd like to get really proficient with the cheap[er] stuff first. Once I shoot enough of the Georgia Arms to have a brass pile I'll start reloading it, which should keep the cost down.

ive shot a few clips of the DT ammo threw my G20 and its great stuff.you can really feel the power differance in the web of your hand, and upward recoil was a non issue.
suprisingly the DT ammo is around the same cost as any local 10mm ammo.
just the shipping adds up to make it higher.

Bet you if you benched it, you're groups at 70 would be much smaller. With that gun I'd expect it to surprise the hell out of you.

Same thing I did when I got started with 10mm ... bought 1000 rounds of Georgia Arms to get brass. It helped that the ammo was pretty good too!

No need to buy Doubletap stuff if you reload, you can meet their velocities with lots of recipies. Blue Dot, 800x, AA-9 are the hot ticket for nuclear 10mm loads. 800x is the best powder for 10mm but meters poorly, so I only load it with my Lyman DPSIII ... makes loading slower but that's a good thing if you're pushing the limit.

Yeah, I've got several pounds of blue dot and AA-9 from other projects, so I'll probably stick with those for 10mm stuff.

I don't have a chrono, but now that I have a 10mm I'm thinking it might be fun to get one for load work ups.

Beautiful Fusion you got there. I hear lots of good things about them.

Nice gun!

Um, no. Not even close. It's almost as powerful as the .357 (very nearly a tie), but the .41 is in a whole different league. You sure can't beat the 10mm out of an auto pistol though, and that longslide looks like the perfect platform for it.

Gryffydd.... I beg to defer with you. A 38 Super is about the same as a 357 mag that is why when it first came out way back in the day alot of your police officers went to carring it, cause they could shoot through the cars. A full load in 10mm is about the same as a 41 mag. I have both and shoot both.

Just saw this thread.... awesome! (I'm getting very close to having the funds to place my OWN Fusion longslide order...)

well. apples to oranges but factory 180gr 1200fps 10mm can penetrate more and hit harder than the 125gr 1450fps .357(9mm). bigger and harder hitting that can go deeper. I'd have to aggree its more than the .357 buy a tad but less than the .41 by a tad. JMHO :)
