The G17 is the answer.
I don't understand the interest in the middle-size Glock.
People act like a full-size Glock is a big gun.

the fullsize glocks are my favorite shooters. most tend to prefer the compact 19's, 23's, etc. but the 17 is what i would choose if concealment was not in the mix. if you plan to ccw, then go to the 19.
my opinion on the 9mm Glock line (not just the 17) is that they are cost effective, very reliable, reasonably accurate, and i prefer them over any other semi auto that i have fired.

I would, and have, stepped up to the Glock G34, great range and competition pistol. It will out shoot most other 9mm pistols right out of the box, probably out last them too. However 12 days till it's repacement arrives, an STI custom 1911 in 9mm, I'll still use it for SSP and Prod classes in IDPA and IPSC. Fist time I ever fired a Glock, a G17 I was impressed at how softly it shot, and how naturally it points. Never regretted getting the G34, never sell it either.

With my Glock 17... pull the trigger, it goes bang, the little hole in the target is pretty close to where I was aiming. Repeat ad nauseum.

I enjoy mine. I started with a 19 but it was too small and not as comfortable.
I don't care for the polygonal rifling though, being a reloader now.

I like the way the g19 fits in my hand better than a g17, more personal preference than anything else tho. I am thinking about getting a g17, and cutting it down to take 19 mags. Then I have the best of both worlds 17 sight radius and 19 handle/concealability.
I would also recommend joining the Glock Shooting Sports Foundation, prior to buying a glock. For $35 you get a coupon to buy one at LEO pricing which will save you $100 or so.

Yea a lot of companies extend leo pricing to military as well so I only buy at leo prices. I will probably conceal it. I do it with my G21 without a problem. I'm a bigger framed guy but my only expieriance with glock has been with .45 acp, G21 G30. Just very curious about the 9mm. Thanks though so far even though I'm not interested in compacts or sub.

The G17 is my daily carry gun, when weather and dress permit. I also own the G19 and the G26, which gives me some flexibility.
I was carrying a G21 prior to the G17, but started thinking that I need to train with a pistol that was as close to my duty gun as possible. So, I went to a G17. I have nothing negative to report since the switch. I have never been a fan of the Glock grip angle, but when I quit complaining about it and started training with it, I found it no different than a 1911 grip angle.
While on vacation, I ran 840 rounds through it without cleaning or lube. No malfunctions. The last rounds I fired out of it were at 25 yards from a makeshift bench/rest . Four rounds printed in a 2" group, with a fifth round opening the group to 3".
I would have to say that the G17 is more accurate than many may think.
I now have 2500 rounds though my G17, almost all reloads. I run 100-200 rounds through it a week. I did a write up here on THR. It is under "My Glock 17" if you want to pull it up and read it.

I have a 1Gen G17 and a 3Gen G17. I like the grip of the 3Gen OK, but I shoot the 1Gen better. I don't like the finger grooves on anything smaller than the G17, as they are spaced too close toghther for me (sold my 3Gen G19 to my son for that reason). The G17 is my main go to pistol though. But, I only carry them in 3 gun matches though. I usually carry the G26 or a G19.

Glock 17 are decent, still have my 1st generation Glock 17 I bought new in 1986 for $320. I lost count of how many rounds that old G17 has eaten years ago but its a bunch.
A number of years ago I bought a new Glock 34 for a range gun. I hardly ever shoot the old G17 anymore after buying the Glock 34. The G34 has a better trigger, more sight radius, longer barrel for more velocity. In short you might want to look at the Glock 34.

Pretty much depends on what you want it for. I am as accurate with the G19 as I am the G17. I bought the G19 as my first Glock. I soon followed that with a G26. I can shoot the G26 accurately. That is what I carry daily because my required dress allows only for pocket carry. If carry isn't an issue, the G17 or the G34 are great choices. If you can only afford one, and you have to carry, the G19 is a great all around compromise.

I just purchased a G17 recently after comparing to the G19 and chose the G17 because there wasn't much of a difference between the 2. I carry it a lot but if I really want concealability ill just carry my LCP.
I love the 17, I recently sold mine to help finance going back to school and out of all the guns I sold recently.... it is the only one I regret. Maybe Ill pick up another one, but I would have to sell another handgun to get one. But I cant see myself getting rid of any of my HK's or my S&W 1911 Sc commander for a G17.

I'm more of an M&P guy, but I like Glocks too.
I really like G17s, but I like G19s more. I think the 9 mm Glocks are the best in Glock's lineup.

The G17 is the answer... for those who prefer the 17...True, it isn't a big gun.
However, the basically 1/2" reduction in length, and height of the G19 offers a different feel in the grip...minimal at most, but there, none the less. Having owned and carried both, I personally prefer the G19, and I shoot both equally as well. Stock for stock, you're only giving up a couple of rounds, and most of us carry multiple mags anyway. Either one is a great choice, and that's all it's really about...having a choice.

The G17 is the answer... for those who prefer the 17...True, it isn't a big gun.
However, the basically 1/2" reduction in length, and height of the G19 offers a different feel in the grip...minimal at most, but there, none the less. Having owned and carried both, I personally prefer the G19, and I shoot both equally as well. Stock for stock, you're only giving up a couple of rounds, and most of us carry multiple mags anyway. Either one is a great choice, and that's all it's really about...having a choice.
