Greetings everyone,

I recently did a trade with a guy that required us shipping our handguns to each other (via FFL of course). I got mine today. It is a G19.

But the front sight is broke and I was curious as to how to repair this. It must have broken during transit. I've read a lot about the front sight breaking on Glocks in the past, but have never experienced the issue with my G22 or G26.

I tried the search engine on GT, but to no avail.

Can you guys give me some ideas on how to repair the sight? Is there any magic or voodoo or is this best left to a Smithy?

Thanks in advance.
John

I don't know if it's the same for all Glocks, but my buddy's old G32 (I think it was) had a very simple mechanism for swapping front sights. You should be able to do it with no problem.

....if it's the same.

If it's the factory plastic front sight, it can be pulled out of the pistol with a pair of pliers. To replace it, find one of the same height from. It is a simple 5-minute installation. I just installed two pairs of sights from Dawson Precision, but many vendors have Glock sights.

I went ahead and ordered some trijicons to put on it. Was going to anyway eventually. I have trijicons on my G22 and really like them.

My next question is: I suppose a Smith is needed to install the trijicons, right?

Thanks a bunch.

Glockmeister had Meprolight night sights on sale at a Gun Show a couple years ago for $60 installed. He put them on my Glock 19. Took all of maybe 2 minutes with the right tools to push out the old rear sight and push in new.

If you do it your self you might want to get The Complete Glock Reference Guide which has excellent photos and detaile steps on complete disassembly and reassembly, as well as details on removing and installing Glock and aftermarket sights.

You can install the rear sights with just a wood dowel and small hammer, but for $100 you can get a nice tool for fine rear sight adjustment.
