I've been wanting a handgun with optics for a while now but every time I'm about to shop for one, something else cuts the line and it's put off for a few more months.

I'm giving Glock another chance now that I've warmed up to the two G22 LEO trade-ins I've recently purchased. In the 90's, I gave my G19 (gen2) an honest 2-year try but the ergonomics weren't there for me. These G22s feel different than I remember and I believe it may be the finger grooves that make all the difference.

So last night I was debating whether to buy a 4th generation G19 MOS (new) or have the slide on my M&P 2.0 cut for an RMR. Going the latter route would save me $400 or more, but I was bested by temptation and went with the former.

I now have a gen4 G19 and Holosun HS507c on the way, as well has an IWB kydex holster with appropriate cut for optics.

Does anyone carry a similar set up? I will likely not carry this much if at all but I can't think of a reason why I shouldn't. Any thoughts?

You are good to go, im going with the same setup only difference mine is a Gen 5, Optic coming soon 20200416_023158.jpg

I ran a Gen 5 G19 Mos with the Burris Fastfire III for carry for a while. With suppressor sights, it was just ungainly. Great shooter, but I took everything off and changed it back to stock for carry. Then went smaller with an M&P40c, then finally a P365 for the ultimate in carry.

I loved shooting it in GSSF matches and as a range toy, but just too unwieldy for a carry gun for me.

Did much the same, but with a Vortex. Didn't like to for carry, optic made me have to change my cant and ride height in a way I didn't like for concealment OR comfort (maybe if I carried appendix it would be better) and even on full power I'd lose the dot in bright sunlight.

Found my boring old CAP sights worked just fine. But the optic does shoot nice when I can see it and is both fast and accurate.

Another generation or two and I'll probably get one for my carry gun, once they get a bit more refined and my eyes get a bit worse.

I'm in the middle of a G45 MOS with a Trijicon RMR, C&H Precision plate, suppressor sights, and a Surefire X300. Just waiting on the sights and Surefire to ship.

That was a serious concern for me as well.

I went the holosun route because besides using a 2moa dot, there's also an option to have the dot surrounded by a 32moa circle that many claim assists with acquisition. I didn't mind shake-awake feature and solar panel that auto powers the unit in sun and auto adjusts for a brighter sight. The V2 version I went with has a side tray for the battery, so the whole unit doesn't have to be removed to swap out batteries. I have a holosun (different model) on my PSA AK-V and I really do like it.
