I have a guy that wants to trade me a G24t Mauser. It is marked as a dou 42 and appears to have all the correct markings. It is numbers matching. Only issue is it does not have the original stock.

I did some research and it appears the 42 models were supposed to have a German laminate stock that is specific to the G42t. Any idea where I could find the correct stock to bring it up to collector value, and what that value would be? I could just get a VZ24 stock for it but that would certainly affect the value.

Well guys I took the leap and made the trade for this rifle and wow am I glad I did. All of the small parts are intact and all have the correct stamps including the floor plate. The rifle is in pretty incredible condition for a war bring back. The bluing is like 95% intact and the nazi eagles and waffenamt stamps are absolutely perfect. Need to find the correct stock for this rifle. I ordered a VZ24 stock off ebay to put it in for now but really hoping to find an original correct G24t stock. If anyone knows where I may find one please let me know.

i like that stain job:thumbup: or was the wood that dark original? i myself would leave it that way looks nice to me

That is not the original stock. I believe it is a Fanjen stock. It is a pretty decent stock and I might keep it for a Mauser sporter in the future. This particular rifle however has considerable collector value and is 100% original besides the stock so it’s a no brainer to put it back the way it should be.
