getting started reloading shotshells

Ive been looking at getting a shotshell reloading press and the lee load all 2 is looking like my most eceonomical option. Im looking at loading at most 100 slugs/buckshot loads a month. I have some reservations about getting it because it is mostly plastic. For the amount that ill be using it, do you think it will hold up? Any inut will wil appreciated, thanks:)
 
I got a Lee Load All back in 1979, and although I have not used it for years, I filled several 3lb coffee cans with spent primers using it! I currently have a MEC Size-Master, and with the cost of shot lately, it has been unused for a long time. Long gone are the days of $7.99/25 lb bag delivered!

Never did load buckshot with the LA, (well I did use splitshot a few times :)) but did do slugs, and a lot of Dove hunting and trap shells, and had no real problems. I would strongly suggest you also buy a scale to actually see what the powder bushings throw. It's not the most robust press, has a lot of flex, but does make very good ammo with a decent crimp. From what you say you need to do, and I would have no fear buying and using a LEE Load-ALL II.

I've loaded about 300 to 400 slugs(casted with the Lee slug mold), 300 to 400 buckshot, and about 500 or so birdshot with my Lee Load All 2. Still works fine. Looks and feels cheesy but seems to get the job done.
 
My original Lee Load-All has held up since the 1970's with ten thousand+ rounds run through it. Buy one. See for yourself how durable it is.
 
agree with the lee load all. Since i have a lee load all jr. It works good. its slow but it works very good. its paid for itself and then some. just as mentioned earlier. its hard to get into reloading shotshell. With the cost of shot sooo high.
 
most of what i would be doing is slugs. Ive gotten tired of $1.25 a slug for rifled slugs, so im bitting the bullet and buying a rifled barrel for my 870 and im gonna start casting my own slugs. I've done the math, and i found buckshot for $2 a pound from midway. I figure a can reload slugs for $.24-$.30 a round while paying for lead, but if i can use wheel weights, that cuts even more cost.

Check your local garages to get them or a local junkyard. The garages usually give them to me but the junkyard up charges 55 cents a pound.
