Glock 19c vs Ruger SR9c

Has anyone shot both of these? My search for a new EDC has come down to these (right now I have a paperweight). Both have the same trigger "style" but how do they compare? I have no renting range in my area so I thought I would ask you guys before I make a $450 mistake.

I know... "Opinion are like___ everybody has one" but...

Just to clarify, the Glock 19 is a compact model. The Glock 19c is the same model ported to compensate for recoil. A better comparison would be the G19 vs Ruger Sr9c or even to compare with the Glock 26.

The glock 26 has similar barrel length, capacity and general dimensions to the SR9c. Unfortunately thats all I can help with as I've never shot the Sr9c

I own a SR9c, and I've rented a G26. I'm really happy with my Ruger, it's been totally reliable, and I really like the small magazine for carry and the larger for home defense. The accuracy is the same for me. I have only heard good things about Ruger's CS; more of a mixed bag on Glock's CS. I trust you've "fondled" both? One doesn't seem any better in your hand? They are both quality firearms; you'll be happy with either. Good luck!

In my opinion, the plain jane Glock 19 is just the best all-purpose EDC CCW there is. It shoots great, cleans easy, detail strips easy, every holster manufacturer (prod or custom) makes 10 different models for it, mags are easy to find (although a bit expensive), has a full 4-finger grip with all but the very biggest hands, and is just a few bucks (OK maybe 100) more than the SR9c.

In my opinion, the only thing I would change about the G19 is to get rid if the finger grips (for sure), get rid of the rails (or make them an option) and I might like to see a palm safety like on 1911s and XDs (this one is iffy but I could see it).

Taking all that and making price a big consideration, I might very well make the SR9c my very second choice.

I am sure there are some $900 guns I would like better but I just don't go there.

I have "fondled" both but at 2 different LGS. I need to go back and see them both at the same time. My biggest concern about the SR9c is the safety. Hopefully I will never know, but in the heat of the moment will I forget?

I know there's a chance it'll bump on on accident, but if the safety on the SR9c bothers you just don't flip it on. A gun with a safety that you don't use is no more likely to go off in the holster than a gun that never had one .

FWIW - I've not shot either of those models, but I have shot their big brothers - the Glock 17 (which I own) and a Ruger SR9 (don't own, but have shot a few boxes through a range rental). Aside from the thumb and mag safeties, I kinda liked the Ruger more. The trigger was better and the sights were much better (I really hate Glock's stock sights - I'm switching mine out very soon).

I was recently debating between a G26 and SR9c. The SR9c felt better in my hand and was a little over $100 cheaper. So far the Ruger has been a real gem. Over 500 rounds through so far (using a wide variety of ammo) and absolutely no issues. I like the 10 round mag option for CCW and the 17 rounder for range and HD use. Its also pretty easy to field strip and there is some aftermarket support for it (though not as much as the Glock). And since its made here in the US I feel like I helped keep a couple of American workers employed for a little while.

Both excellent guns, find a store that has them in stock and see how they feel in your hand. Go with the one that feels best, you will enjoy it more. Glock grips are too big for my hands and the SR9c fits my hand perfectly. If you go with the SR9c you will have enough cash left over to get some night sights.

That is also something I am considering also.

For me it I guess it seems like "All these nice "toys" never enough money to get them all.

I've shot both and own the SR9C. I know the 19 is considered by many the best all-around EDC, but for me the SR9C just felt better and I like the 10 round mag for very easy concealabilty. Saving $100 was a big plus too. I actually think the guns are very similar with just minor things to consider what you like best(safety, grip angle, loaded indicator). The safety for me is no big thing because I have a 1911 and CZ75B and instinctively push it down when grabbing the firearm. Actually had a few years ago a Glock 17C but sold it and bought the CZ. If you do decide on the 19, it's a fine weapon, but don't let a LGS guy sell you the 19C. You don't notice any recoil difference when shooting 9mm and you don't want ported barrels on your CCW. The 17C was my very 1st (you never forget your 1st right?), and I think I was duped into paying more for something not needed.

I tried a number of compact and sub-compact 9mm.s, including the Glock 19 and 26, and went with the SR9c. It just felt better in my hands than any of the others. Accuracy has been very good and the quality of the design and the materials used in its manufacture are first rate.

After carrying a G19 for years I went with the SR9c and couldn't be happier. It's slimmer, points more naturally, and the new models have a shorter, lighter trigger than the G19. The Glock seems to stay a bit cleaner and is easier to clean, but I've never had any reliability issues with the SR9c. Quite simply I just shoot it better. So my recommendation is for the SR9c.

My buddy is a glock die hard, he recently shot a SR40c and says he still likes his glock trigger better. I thought that odd (Apparently Hickok45 likes the SR trigger better and he's as Glock as they come). I haven't shot much with a Glock, don't own one. Not that I don't like them, just too many other models out that grab my attention.

It's a win-win. Both a great pistols. It really comes down to which weapon feels better in your hands, which trigger you like, and if saving a little $$ matters. I went with the SR9c and do not regret it at all.

SR9c felt great in my hands so I bought one. I have large hands but still like it. I've never had a single problem, but a female friend tried it and her first two shots failed to eject. Once I told her to stop limp-wristing she was fine.

Isn't the regular SR9 the better comparison to the G19? Wouldn't the SR9c would be the competitor to the G26.

I have a Glock 19c as a carry gun and like it. I got used to the trigger on the Glock which is better than my Ruger LCP. If the Ruger SR9c has a trigger like the LCP I will stay with my 19c, although the LCP is a very nice carry gun.

I've only shot the SR9, not the compact, but I would take the GLOCK 19 over it any day. It is just a notch above the Ruger in quality and feel.

I have both a G19 and an SR9C. Both are great guns in their own way. The SR9C fits my hand better, and I shoot it better than the Glock. It is also much easier to carry concealed. However, the Glock is absolutely reliable, smooth, quicker to reload, and better crafted than the Ruger. I wish I could have the best features of each. At the end of the day, if I could have only one, it would definitely be the Glock/

Roverboy: The trigger on the SR9 is much more Glock like than LCP like. Mine is a little bit shorter and lighter than on the G19.

JTQ: I think the comparing the SR9c with the G19 is spot on. The G26 is smaller than the SR9c and the SR9c weighs more. The full-size SR9 is closer to a G17 than a G19.

I bought my wife the SR9c as she liked that the best. I carry the G26 and G19 the most so I did have a pretty good comarision. I think it really comes down to how it feels in the hand, but the Glock will have more immediate accessories and the Ruger mags are way expensive. I won't own a pistol with less than a half-dozen mags and I picked up a few more for the wife and it wasn't cheap Additionally, the finger base on the short magazine is nice, but adds length without capacity...I would expect in the future a similar finger extension that would be a +1 or +2. The mag sleeve for the full size SR9 mags is another good option.

The sight bases don't seem to be standard. The stock sights are fine, but if you wanted night sights, I don't think anything is on the market yet.

As to the safety, I would just ignore it and leave it off. It is easy enough to operate and my wife likes it, but it's something you can just ignore and leave off. My wife really likes the chamber indicator...I think it's a tad too big, but it could be removed if it was much of a concern. The tirgger itself is mediocre and much like most plastic striker fired triggers; I've been told it gets better over time, but it's acceptable and not too different from my Glocks.

I wish she would have selected a Glock 26 or 19 as I have plenty of parts and spare mags, but in the end, it's her handgun and one she likes and will shoot/carry. I can say it's well built (it's the stainless slide model) and it's been very reliable and good accuracy; the price was quite attactive and Ruger does have a very good customer service reputation.

To my untrained eye, the SR9c and the G26 fit the same niche, a 3.5" barrel with a 10 round capacity.

I've never shot the glock, but I do have an SR9-C and its really nice! I like everything about it, fits my hand perfectly, very accurate, has a really nice "feel" to it.
