Glock 21

I've heard a lot of opinions both positive and negative on this particular Glock. Evidently some had/have experienced issues with reliability/parts breakage in some examples.

IIRC, this pistol is in it's third generation now. For you G21 owners, has your experience been relatively trouble-free?

I love mine, it replaced my 1911 as my 3gun sidearm.
And mine is 100% reliable, I have just over 1k through it now and I have never had an issue.

In the few weeks I've owned mine, I would say I've put about 600 rounds through it. Out of those, my son had (1) stovepipe(probably limp-wristed it) using reloads. I also have a Lone Wolf aftermarket barrel that I use in it for the lead bullets I shoot through it. Overall, I highly recommend it, if you can grip it comfortably....it is a handful, literally. It is also my carry weapon.

I don't own one, but have shot a G21 from time to time (indoor range rental).

One thing you have to remember regarding the reliability of specific/certain gun is that there's that 1% of malfunction. It's a tool with mechanical parts, and may be prone to the normal wear and tear.

Yes, the newer generation Glock have been improved compared to the earlier models. So just go try one out and see if you like it.

Personally, I'd get one.

I've never had a problem with my G21 but then again I have never had problems with glocks in over a decade of owning mulitple Glocks.

Every caliber will wear on parts differently and Glocks are no different. Yes a .45 caliber Glock will wear out some parts faster than a 9 mm but that goes for every maker out there.

Test one out and see if its for you. I will say that the larger Glocks are not for everyone so do test it out along with the SF before making a purchase.

The only part I can say for sure that gets worn out faster with the .45 is my WALLET!

I owned two G21's. They are gone. But while I had them I launched thousands of rounds downrange and I do not recall any FTF / FTE. I used one to get my CCW in Ohio.
I am not a Glock hater, I am not a Glock lover. They work, just not what I wanted.
No soul, but they work.

I'm not a Glock fan, but I have owned several. I currently own three. Among those now departed was a Glock 21. It had some light strike issues that were resolved by changing the firing pin channel liner and replacing the striker spring with a + power. No problems after that. They are not the kind of firearm that gives you pride in ownership, but they work! There will always be a place in my safe for Glocks!

There was a trigger bar issue with some 21s, which is now fixed. If I remember correctly, you want the trigger to have a 1 or +1 after the four digit number on it. But that's the only issue I 've ever heard of. I love mine. It is a very soft shooting .45.

As long as there is a 1 after the four digit number you should be fine. This indicates the revised trigger bar which raises the action slightly to deal with the problem.

Now you don't know me and I'm just a guy on the internet. If you contact Glock directly they will ask for your serial number and tell you if there is an "upgrade" available. Glock doesn't use the word "recall" and they will get huffy if you use it.

My Glock 21SF has about 750 rounds through it with 0 malfunctions so far. It is my favorite practical gun, the most comfortable in my hand, and while I'm not the most accurate with it I am the most accurate when shooting quickly, which is what I've got it for. The non SF frame is a little bulky for me, whereas the SF frame (which I bought as soon as it came out) fits like a... well, not a glove, since it's inside my fist... but it's a very natural fit.
