I currently have a gen 3 glock 23 that I've been carrying since last August, but I know its going to start printing more as I take off the winter layers and transition to summer clothing. I'm 5'11 and can generally get away with concealing the 23 in a crossbreed supertuck iwb with a shirt or two over it. However I know if i chose to wear just a t shirt in the summer, the grip is just too long to conceal.

So I'm looking to buy a g27 for summer carry and a g35 practical / tactical mostly due to CT's continuing AWB and my inability to flee this socialist state anytime in the near future.

So my question is should I buy them now or wait for them to come out in generation 4? I'm really partial to the OD green frames and glock really isn't very good at communicating their future plans / build schedule. Which could mean it might be as much as a year or more before gen 4 + OD frame is released for the models I want.

Get them now. Especially the 27, that is one of the best guns I have ever owned, much better than the 23 I own, it shoots better, the recoil is better for me for some reason, that odd-looking hump on the grip? Well it coincides perfectly with the palm of the hand, and it's great. Don't booger it up with extensions, just the GAP spurred baseplates, and it's perfect. Oh wait, throw a smooth-faced fullsize trigger in it and use a half-round file to reshape that little trigger bar to a more pleasant shape, then it's perfect.

Unless you feel that the "Gen 4" changes would be truly beneficial for you, I would just get what you want now. There is no guarantee that Glock will offer these models with the new texture frame. Personally, I've never felt my "third generation" grips to feel slippery in any way.

From what has been said from SHOT show-ers and Glock distributors, the Gen 3 is still going to remain in production and that the Glock Gen 4 is an upgraded model that is offered as an option. As to how long they'll keep saying that or if that is true, well...it's all hearsay and time will tell for now.

Either way, you can wait for the next Gen-4 models (assuming they're coming in the other models), then compare and see which works best for you, since Gen-3's aren't gonna magically disappear. After having more intimate time with a Gen-4, I don't see myself getting rid of my Gen-3 - at least not for awhile.

And the 27 already has a time-tested and proven double recoil spring assembly. I would get the 27 now and wait on the 35, even get an OD 27 now.

GEN3. Also, it will be a very long time, if ever, for GEN4 35/27 to come out.
