Glock 36 vs Kahr PM45

The P45 would be the equivilent to the 36. 6+1, 3 3/4" barrel etc. I've had both. I like the Kahr much better. Mag changes are easier, faster, smoother because you get three fingers on the grip. The 36 has a two finger grip with the pinky on the end of the mag. Mags are thinner so easier to carry a back up in the pocket. They're about the same thickness but the Kahr grip is much shorter front to back, giving it a smaller grip. Though they have the same barrel length, the P45 is a 1/2" shorter (slide). Height is about even.
Never had a PM45 so I can't comment. They are on the big side for pocket, almost identical in size to the P40 but thicker and one less rd. It may use a dual recoil assembly like the PM9 and PM40. A PM9 or PM40 would be better for pocket carry over a PM45 for me and my pockets.

the PM45 might be pocketable, I know of one poster who carrys it in his pocket. it is about 4 ounces lither tan the glock, smaller all the way around and is one super handgun IMO. So is the glock, both more than likely willbe waist band carried.

I prefer the grip of the Kahr -- I can get a full grip so no dangling pinky, plus it's a nice shooter too
I've owned both and the Kahr is not even half as good a pistol as the G36. The 36 has a better trigger, better reliabilty, better aftermarket parts, better quality for the money (shall I stop here?)... 
I bought a used 36 to replace the new P45 I had and sold. There's no real comparison here, not even in the same ball park. With the Pierce +1 grip extension, you get 7+1 in a thin (not as thin as my Springer Micro, but thin enough to conceal well) reliable Glock with a place for your whole hand (no pinky dangle). IMHO, polymer Kahr's are way over priced for the quality. Go with a Glock and you'll never look back at Kahr, I know I won't.

Unlike Distra who has had issues, I have never had one issues ever and I own 3 kahrs and they have been flalwelss, My K9 has 4000 plus rounds through it and my PM9 has 19.500 and my little P380 right now has 450. top quality IMO, not over priced IMO but if you get burned by a gun u tend to stay away from them in the future. I was a past kt owner and u could not give me one of them today PERIOD, but there are thousands out there that love theirs. there are always two sides to a fence..
Glocks are not fool proof. Just ask the Indiana State Police about thier G22, which (1200) in exchange for the G17 which is their carry peace still today..

In this case, I would go with the G36. I've owned both and the PM45 was traded within two-weeks. The PM45 wouldn't reliably feed anything and this is after two return trips. Do some research, try out both, and then decide.

There is no reason for it. Nevertheless, one I shot as a rental performed well for me. Of course, this was when .45 practice ammo was a ten-spot for a box. ^^ Agreed. It's very annoying. I wonder if it has anything to do with their manufacturing process of the magazines... this being the only single stack magazine that GLOCK makes. Maybe the weird butt plate was a cost-motivated decision. 2, 3, or 2 1/2 fingers, I'd still rather have a flush fitting mag.

I have both but prefer to carry the P45. It weighs less and for me the easier of the 2 to shot more accurately. I find it much easier to conceal as well. On the other hand for any "extended" shooting session I find my way to the G36. Anyone carrying either will most certainly be well armed. Have confidence in both you can not choose wrong between the two.

I have the Glock 36 and the CM45 and I just traded my CW45.
I have had reliability issues with my CW45, which prompted me to get the G36.
I did what I could with the CW45 to help it feed. I polished everything that had moving contact with other parts and polished the feed ramp. To no avail.
I sent the pistol back to Kahr and they put about a 1/16th inch bevel of 45 degrees on the stripper lug. That fixed the issue.
The pistol shot very accurately and felt great in the hand. It had a long, but smooth trigger that was very much like a revolver, but lighter. The reset was long too. After the gun failed me I just couldn't trust it and opted to carry my G36.
I bought a CM45 which is super for concealed carry, but only 5+1.
Before my first shot with this pistol, I polished the crap out of it with flitz. ...a mirror finish inside. I also beveled the stripper lug as Kahr did for the CW45. So far 300 or 400 rounds through it of various ball ammo and 50 or so of various hallow point ammo. No failures.
The G36 is superior in my view and seems better made. I shoot it very well and it has been utterly reliable. Reliable is the most important aspect for my carry gun.

Poly frame Kahrs are junk, IME. I've had 3 of them.
Glocks have a reputation for reliability out of the box. Kahrs do not.
My G19 is light years ahead of the Kahrs I've had in terms of reliability, and quality.

I had ejection problems with my glock 36. It is the glock with the most problems out there. I'm going to try the cw45. Fits my hand better than the glock.
I carried a Glock 36 before got on my 1911 kick. The Glock performed very reliably. The Kahr on the other hand has been a mixed bag reliability wise. The Kahr 9's and 380's have a good rep. The .45 on the other hand is a gun I've seen a high percentage of returns for service on considering the amount I've seen sold.

I tried them both, and a few others. Bought the G36. It has been very reliable from the start. Over all a good gun. I replaced a finicky Officers ACP with it.
Me ether. It seems like they were going to make a short mag for it, then decided not to. It would be a lot better if the grip was a little longer and it had a
flat bottom mag. I have heard a few people complain that it pinches them on the pinkie, ouch.

I carry a G36 every day. Shoot about 5K a year. It has been flawless. If I were to switch to anything else it would be a G30s.

Kahr has a better feel and I like the trigger better. Both are subjective.
I would choose the Kahr.

Bought a Kahr cw45 today. Cleaned and lubed as per manual, fired a mix of s&b and Winchester 230gr. fmj 100 rounds total. No issues, accuracy excellent and recoil mild in my opinion.

Not perfect but I'm more accurate and handle the Kahr better than the others. The G36 was loose in the mag connection and it had a couple FTEs in 50 rounds. Probably not usual but I didn't shoot it well and it didn't fit my hand well. I'm confident in the PM45 as my EDC inside the waistband. None of the above would fit my Wrangler pocket. Or my Savanes.

I don't have a PM45 or a Glock 36 but I do have a Kahr cw45. I chose it over the PM45 because I can use flush fitting mec-gar 1911 officers mags in it. This gives me 6 plus 1 and the cw45 is only slightly taller than the pm45 this way. I also have a cm9. Both Kahrs run fine. Here's the cw45 with the mec-gar mag.

They need a small mod that takes about ten minutes. I will post it later with pics. The mags feed fine and lock the slide. Another plus is they cost less than half the price of kahr mags.
