I have been seeing some internet discussion about Glocks elimination of different models and chamberings. I can see the 45 GAP and Gen4 models. But 40s&w and 357sig???

Has anyone seen anything actually from Glock?

There are more than enough used Glock's in 45 GAP, 40 S&W and 357 Sig to supply another generation of shooters. If either cartridge makes a comeback they can always start making more. From a business standpoint it doesn't make sense to make products that are not profitable. This will free up production space to make more of the guns thar are selling.

I was surprised they ever did Gen 5 in anything but 9mm. It looked like they were going to go that way at first. I don't care what they do because I don't have and won't buy, but it would be cool if they used their influence to introduce some more new cartridges.

I'm happy that they did the Gen5 in the 20 & 29. I'm a lefty and it having ambidextrous controls is a big deal 👌

9mm is just about the most boring cartridge. Don’t get me wrong I have tons of 9mm.

I certainly understand why companies reducing models, and unprofitable options.

But as a 41mag fan. I can understand someone liking cartridges like the 40s&w or 357sig. I will probably never purchase either, but never is a long time and the right opportunity might come along.

I don't hate 40 or 357 Sig, or 5.7, but they're like 90's cars. They had their day, it's past, and they're not vintage cool. I wouldn't argue that 40 isn't still practical, but we need something that is actually more exciting than 9x19. I'm not talking about something to replace 9x19, but something new and cool. I doubt Glock will do it. Have they done anything new since the 80's?

Like a 1978 mustang cobra. What we had back then is lame now. I gave that away.

Outside the U.S. the 9mm has basically been the caliber that has dominated the pistol world. And now the U.S. has succumbed. As a caliber it has proven a killer round
in pistols easily carried. Like the .38 Special, most nearly all shooters novice and veteran can handle its recoil and make good hits. The .45 ACP will remain but the
9 mm is and will be the Queen of self defense calibers and the guns designed for it.
Even the venerable 1911 can be seen as a 9mm pistol despite the nostalgia for the .45.

I took out the 5” pre-lock S&W 629 today. Hot .44’s loaded with 20.7 grain of H110 and LPM. Shot 4 cylinder and my palm was hurting. But I was having a BLAST

9mm may be practical but .357 Sig, .40, 10mm is just plain FUN, especially when you hot rod them!. And having fun shooting is 99.99% the reason for guns!

I have heard, as part of the Glock News/Rumors that they were going to discontinue the Glock 30.
The 45acp is my favorite semiautomatic cartridge. The reality is that the 380acp and 10mm are more sensible with today's loads. The 9mm is boring 😴 why do I have 8 pistols chambered for it. 🤔

I better order that Glock 30 gen5 while I can still find one. 👍
