I own 2 Glock 34 Gen 3 pistols. One for the left hand and one for the right. ;)
I am a righty, but also shoot left handed for practice.

Anyway, when shooting left handed the factory extended mag release and the aftermarket models by Strike Industries and Glock Store would just chew up the inside of my left index finger.
Yesterday I was at my LGS looking around and I discovered an extended mag release by Cross Armory. It has rounded off or tapered edges so I bought one and installed it on “my left hand gun”.
I bought a silver one as my right hand gun is all black. The silver pins, slide release and mag release help differentiate the two for me at a glance.

Here are some shots of the left hand G34 as well as the right hand G34 to show the differences in the Cross Armory and Glock Store extended mag releases.

Shot of Glock Store mag release. You can see how this might be in comfortable shooting left handed:

Handling the guns left handed the Cross Armory release should definitely be more comfortable, but I will need to hit the range, just to be sure.

Are those screws on the bottom mag release?

My guiding principal is that the fewer screws a firearm has the better.

Plus that mag release on the bottom looks like it would be awfully prone to snagging and catching on pretty much anything.

Yes, they are screws and you are correct regarding snagging being a concern. I may replace that one with one like the silver one. These are not carry guns, but range guns right now but once I leave this state next summer they may be carry guns, on occasion.

Before you start carrying them, make sure the extended release isn't activated by your holster. Such things can happen and generally the second shot in a self-defense encounter is far more important than the 19th.

I like polymer goodies on polymer frames. Just old fashion I guess.

Ghost makes a nice “tweeter” Gen 3 mag release that I like to use on large frames. If it’s a compact or subcompact, I just stick with the original.

Oh yeah! Excellent point. In the OWB Blackhawk holsters I have it’s not an issue, but those holsters aren’t CCW holsters.

Well, I tried the new mag release left handed firing 60 rounds left handed and it worked out wonderfully. No irritation at all. I really did not even notice it while firing left handed. I shot a magazine through it right handed and in manipulating the release I had to turn the gun a wee bit but not much.
I am pretty happy with the results.

I had the fancy extended Wilson Combat mag release removed on my Wilson 92 Compact Carry and replaced with a standard Beretta metal part due interference with my left shooting hand. Seem like they cause more problems than solutions.

If you look at the gun on the left in this photo you will see what the factory mag release looks like on a G34. Hence the reason I wanted something a bit less “sharp”.

Factory Beretta 92 magazine releases can be reversed. It's possible that the WC release might also be reversed, but I can't say for sure.

They come out really easily but getting them back in can be a bit trickier and may take a few tries.

I'm not endorsing this guy's videos in general because I've only watched this one. This one seems to be accurate.

Make sure that your mags have the release cutouts on both sides. I think they all do, but I can't find a lot of pictures of the 92 compact mags.

I have tried left-handed mag releases, and there is just too much muscle memory and dexterity tied into using my left pointer finger working the button. In honestly, I would exchange them all for properly designed heel releases.
