Despite the sour grapes Glock has about not getting the military handgun contract Glock could still pull a huge rabbit out of their hat right now. They already have the civilian and law enforcement markets covered nationwide with their pistols. Gaston Glock needs to overcome his reluctance to build a pistol carbine and make this a priority with his engineers. I think they're are many police officers and civilians that would love to have a patrol rifle that they could use the same magazines in as their Glock service pistol. This would be a huge win for everybody and would create a huge jump in profits for Glocks company. I know I'd buy one from my lgs right now if Glock pistol carbines were available. Why doesn't GG do this?

Sour grapes nothin', protesting these kinds of bids is pretty much automatic for the runner up. You lose nothing, and could gain a huge contract.
But I do agree, I'd like a Glock carbine by Glock.

The KRISS Vector carbine is available in a variety of common service calibers from 9mm to .45, including .357 SIG and 10mm Auto, and takes Glock magazines.

He needs to overcome his reluctance to build something different period... All we have gotten is the same thing, lengthened here, chopped, here, etc.etc for the last 30+ years.
In addition, a ton of carbines that accept glock mags are on the current market, from Wilson Combat down to cheap Just Rights and everything in between.

Try as I might I simply do not like Glock handguns. I am not against striker fired handguns as I like the Ruger SR9 and S&W M&P.
What I think the market needs is a affordable 9mm carbine. This is a huge potential market for Glock. Glock handgun owners will love it and, since it is a different kind of fish, non-Glock handgun users like myself would be taking a look at it.

Good news for me is, it looks like I'll never have to buy another glock and probably not another sig....ever.
I had a Sub 2k for 4 or 5 years....shot it on 4 occasions before trading it for a CZ. The only good thing I ever found about a 9mm carbine was you can shoot it without ear plugs if you so desire. I wouldn't mind an EVO if they come in at the price of the Kel-Tec be a good safe gun.

In the world of US government contracts, protests are so normal they are expected. Sometimes they go nowhere, sometimes they do.
Yup. This happened when Oshkosh Defense won the last contract over Lockheed Martin for some kind of off road vehicle not too long ago. Basically halted production for about a month, but nothing changed.
