[ this was accidentally posted in the revolver sections first!!]

OK..I admit that I don't know much about Glocks...
Have fired 200 round thru a G17 at the range and 50 thru a G34.
But, I am going to buy one of these girls soon as my primary handgun for IDPA fun and so far I like the trigger and other characteristics of the G17.
In fact I enjoyed shooting the G17 more and shot better groups with it???
Am I a bit strange? Or is it possible that the G17 may be a better choice for some people for competitive shooting than the G34

The G34 is a more accurate gun. Maybe the percentage of error was working in your favor with the G17.:neener:

Get the 34.

Definitely the G34. Stock for stock it's more competitive. Extended slide stop, extended mag catch, 3.5# connector instead of the 5#, and longer sight radius.

Both sights suck, so get a Heinie/Dawson fiber optic front sights to replace them.

I know several people who prefer the G17 (or G22) to the G34/35 for coarse shooting like IDPA.

Dgreno's recommended G17L would not be allowed in IDPA, it will not fit The Box.

If you think of your guns as "girls" you may need psychiatric help.

I would vote for the G34. But, I have to admit that while I love my G35 for the 20+ yds COFs, my G22 does seem to handle a bit faster on the shorter COFs. It may be only a subjective thing on my part.

I have a g17 that is set up similar to g34 and it works good for me. It has the 3.5 connector, extended mag release and sevigney competition sights(fiber optic front). The new sights alone are a very big plus no matter which gun you decide on. Mark

Most people are saying the G34- which is no surprise!
Looks like I need to go back and rent a G34 again to see if it works better for me this time?
And those Sevigny competition sights look promising- but are they OK for indoor ranges where the light is not so good (my 47 yr old eyes don't help)
or would the carry version with the figure eight dots be better for indoor/ outdoor use?

the G17L is no longer in production.

The G34 is the only 9mm with an elongated barrel/slide now.
