glock gen 3 problem

So I sent my gen 3 G19 off to Smyrna GA this morning. The test firing date was end of March and I picked it up early in April. This thing flings cases straight at my face every range trip. I've tried 400 rounds of 9x19 with 5 different brands with the same result. Hopefully the issue is resolved by Glock. I had a 26 from 2010 that ran like a champ. Kinda disappointed that this is happening.

 

My Glock 26 Gen3 did the same thing. I swapped the extractor with an earlier one and it stopped. Annoying. Perfection? I think not.

 

Glock pistols are like any other machines/tools built with parts ... final/overall performance depends on the sum of the parts.

Fortunately, Glock parts are readily available and easily replaced.

Some of my Glocks flung spent cases at my face ... now they don't.

Mine does have the 336 ejector as did the 26 that I sold off. The only difference I can tell is the extractor that has a dip in it. I tried a lwd extractor with no luck for the last 100 rounds shot through it.

From what you posted bds, it sounds like they will replace the ejector and it will fix it. Is that what you did or did you adjust it yourself?

 

Replace the 336 ejector with the new 30274 ejector and most of your problems will be taken care of. You can also very sparingly polish the leg on your extractor at the same time and that should fix it. Many of us have experienced the same problem and that seems to be the fix. Glock wouldn't admit the problem at first but they are fixing most of them now from what has been indicated on the forums here. Older guns didn't exhibit this problem and there was some talk about the newer extractors being MIM parts causing the problem too.

 

Can you explain the part of the extractor that is its leg?

 

I just go the g19 back and hope to shoot it this weekend. It looks the same with the same ejector and dipped extractor. Filthy dirty though. They must've shot it quite a bit. I will call and ask what they did tomorrow

 

My Gen 3 G19 is on its second trip back for the same issue. Initially they swapped out the 336 for the 30274 ejector. No luck.

By the way I have a 1998 G19 that has never brassed me in the face.

 

sorry to hear you have the problem too pittspilot. I just went shooting this weekend and now the ejection is superb... however, it fails to go into battery. out of 100 rounds or so 8 times it failed to fully go into battery.

 

It only took glock 2 times to get mine right. They replaced the ejector with a 30274 and probably the extractor, but they won't tell me what they did. It runs fine now.

 

There are some people who have sent their pistols in with the 336 ejector, and the pistols have been coming back from Glock with a new extractor but with the same 336 ejector.

It seems Glock is fixing the face-ploinking ejection problem only by putting in a new extractor and they don't seem to be messing with the ejector anymore.

 

If it's not fixed, call them back and tell them and ask for a prepaid shipping label to send it back again. Include a note with the gun requesting that they install the 30274 ejector, it seems they won't do it anymore unless you specifically ask for it.

 

I called Glock and ordered the 30274 ejector and replaced it myself. Seems to have done the trick. Cases aren't in a neat little pile like my Hi-Power, but they don't hit me in the face anymore. There was some talk about Glock replacing the MIM extractors with the old style but I never saw that confirmed. The new ejector did the trick on my G19.

 

To clarify a little more it ejects fine and not one of the 100 rds hit me. all went to the right over my shoulder. The new problem is the gun not going into battery. I don't think the new ejector is the fix. I called and asked what they did and they said hey test fired it and it was fine. no ejector or extractor replacement. However when I disassembled it the extractor looked different the claw of it had been stoned and the parts that contact the slide upper and lower portions looked to be smooth with a blued finish. Possibly a new extractor or hand tuned with a stone. I also went through the brass casings from my previous shooting session. On a couple of the spent cases the primer was not struck in the middle but high. This makes me think that the extractor is too tight fitting and causing the rounds not to fully feed. Sometimes leading to not going into battery or not fully seating against the breech face.

TL;DR I will be calling Monday morning and asking for a label and for it to be fixed.

 

Got it back and took it to the range. Same problem. Absolutely frustrating!
