I have a Burris Fastfire III red dot sight and I am thinking about buying one of the Glocks that are available in an MOS version. I prefer 45acp. The Glock 41 is available in an MOS version but my preference is for the Glock 21, which, as far as I know, is not available in MOS. Does anyone know or has anyone heard if the Glock is planning to release the 21 in an MOS version. I'm not sure why they have not since they have an MOS version of the model 17 and 19.

I have a Sig 320 FS 45acp but I don't want to have the slide milled on it and I don't want the RX version of the 320 because the Burris sight won't work on it, I would have to get the Sig proprietary red dot.

I've been wanting to try a Red Dot sight but didn't want to buy another pistol, or use some type of mount, since I have several Glocks and others. I decided to have JagerWerks, http://jagerwerks.com/glock-1/, mill the slide of my G19 and install a Vortex Venom. I also had the slide refinished. They did an excellent job. MiIlling is $ 125 and refinishing is $ 50 and there are numerous finish options. I'm very satisfied with JagerWerks work and the Venom Red Dot.

Hmmmm, I may have to look into this. It was a toss up between the Burris FF III and the Vortex. There's not a lot of difference between them. I ended up getting the Burris for no particular reason. Thanks for the tip, I'll contact Jagerwerks

Your are welcome! The Burris, and Vortex sights are both rated well as I recall. I went with the Vortex Venom because the Vortex Viper is not available with 3 MOA only the 6 MOA which is a larger size red dot. I only target shoot at 25 yds. or less because of a bad back. Whether you would want a 3 MOA or 6 MOA depends on how you will be using your pistol. Jagerwerks does do slide cuts for the Burris.

Did you already have the Vortex Venom or did you get it from them and have them mill it and install it. I was looking on their website and I see where they sell them as a package: the Venom + Installation

I assume they provide a plate to cover the opening in case you want to take the red dot off for some reason. I have a Sig 320 so I'll probably have to send it in to Sig to get the warranty work done (gun discharges sometimes when dropped, (I haven't had this happen to me)) first because milling the slide will no doubt void the warranty. BTW, what color did you have your slide refinished in?

I purchased the Venom from JagerWerks and they installed it. If you want the 6 MOA, you might consider the Viper. They installed the Red Dot and sent me the box it came in with the accessories which included a small rail mount, screws, wrench, etc. I had the Black Nitrite finish, which takes a couple of weeks longer. It took a total of about 3 weeks to complete my order and as I said, I'm very pleased. They do have cover plates available for the Trijicon and Vortex Viper only.

Attached are a couple of pictures of my G19 with the Venom and the original night sights. I left the rear dovetail. You can move the dovetail to the front of the sight if you want to. I can't use my rear sight to co-witness. You can see the front sight through the Red Dot and align it with two white marks on the rear of the Venom. I may or may not add the taller sights to co-witness. I want to shoot it some more before I decide about any taller sights for co-witnessing.

Very nice. So, did they do the whole gun in black nitrite or just the slide, looks like the whole gun

I have a MOS. If I had it to do over again I would have just milled the slide.

The adapter plates add too much height and it's not like I am going to swap out brands of RDS like underwear.

I've been waiting for them to come out with a Glock 20 MOS. Now that they are moving on to the Gen V guns, I don't know how much their current Gen IV MOS lineup is going to change so I have been researching just getting the slide milled. It really isn't that expensive and may be the better route because it appears it is easier to get the RDS to cowitness when you have the slide custom milled, as opposed to dealing with the plates and such in the MOS system.

I doubt Glock will offer the 21 in MOS or they would have already. The longer sight radius and thinner external dimensions of the G41 slide (it will fit in G34 holsters) are very desirable features.

Anyways, Dueck Defense makes a mini red dot mount that replaces the rear sight on the Glock so no milling is needed, great for trying out the red dot on a pistol thing without committing to having your slide machined.

I had been considering several options for adding a Red Dot to one of my Glocks and even considered purchasing a Sig P320RX which includes a red dot. I considered mounts that fit into the rear dovetail, MOS, and others. I didn't like the fact that all the mounts, and even the MOS, resulted in the Red Dot being mounted above the slide. Finally I decided to
to take my G19, which I had not been shooting very often, and have the slide milled. For $ 375 I had the slide milled, the slide refinished, and a Vortex Venom Red Dot. This turned my G19 into one of my favorites to shoot and I'm glad had the slide milled. The only disadvantage is the G19 is committed to the Venom. Of course I could move the Venom to another pistol if I ever wanted to and use iron sights on the G19. There are pictures of my G19 on this same thread.

I inquired to Jagerwerks about doing this. They told me they were only milling Sigs for the RMR. I may end up having to just buy a gun that already comes from the factory with an MOS mount, can't find anyone to mill by Sig 320

I prefer the milled slide myself. It keeps the sight lower than the MOS using adapter plates.

Suarez did my G19 slide for my RMR and it came out great. Took less than 4 weeks from shipping out to shooting again. They may be worth checking with to see if they can handle what you need.

Both approaches are good through, and the MOS is a good deal if you dont mind a little extra height on the dot sight.

Are you sure the 41 is thinner? Have you put one in the 34 holster yourself?

Well the 41 bis a no go in the 2 holsters I tried. The bladetec was off by a lot and the comptac by a little. May could have made it work in the Comptec but still not right.
