Which do you think is better?

And why?

I'm trying to decide which is better. I only have a small amount of money to spend and I'm wanting to get a gun for CCW, IDPA competition, target shooting and good for SHTF/EOTWAWKI situations.

Also, my girl friend and or mother will shooting the weapon. Which is best for them? Which one has less recoil and is capable of "one stop shots".

I spend a lot of time going to other peoples homes and I don't want my CCW to be "outed". Which of these choices is best to avoid this?

Thanks in advance.

Glock 19 all the way!!!

Small enough to CCW. Large enough to shoot comfortably. 9mm good enough to stop a threat. 9mm cheap enough to shoot the crap out of the gun. 9mm not kicking too much, so woman not complaining too much
and 15+1 in 9mm capacity. takes Glock 17 mags, as well as the 30+ rounders.

Both of those are subjective.

"Heavy recoil" to one person may be a delicate caress to another.

"One stop shots" can be made with a .22 Long Rifle cartridge.

Many felonious folk have been shot repeatedly with 9mm and .40 S&W and did not stop until they bled out minutes later (after continuing to resist all the way to that point).

I love my 27 and shoot it very well (by my standards) and it disappears under clothing a normal service sized handgun would print horribly with. I like the Subcompact Glocks, and mine has convinced me to eventually buy either a compact or a fullsize Glock.

Not sure of your level of gun training...

I'd suggest you, your girl and mom take an NRA Basic Firearms course that allows you to shoot different types of pistols.

Once everyone is done with the course, rent out different models of Glocks. Starting with 9mm, then .40S&W and ultimately a .45ACP Glock. After that, then you'll find the right one for you.

I tried out a Glock model 35 in .40S&W and loved it. It felt great in my hands, affordable and accurate as heck...this all with the help of taking a course.

When I did my purchase I was looking for a good used 19 ...but found a nice deal on a 26 and bought it. Lighter, easier to conceal, shoots great, 12 rounds with mag extension.

The smartest thing said thus far. Not only a Glock fan, but one that understands that not all firearms are the same. I'd even go as far as to try a none Glock weapon so you know the mechanical, aesthetics and output components of brands and models.

Ooh, I think I threw up a little in my mouth at that title.

So did I when I was making it up.

Thanks for all the replies. I almost don't have the heart to tell you this whole thread is a goof.

I was getting tired of the "Glock vs XYZ" threads so I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. I wanted to see how long it could go, but people were taking it so serriously I thought I'd better pull the plug before it spiraled out of controll.

Bonus points to KiltedClaymore for getting it.

I agree with others that the Block 19 is the best all around compact 9mm.

I also have a 26 and 17. In 9mm Glock can't be beat. They are accurate, reliable and practically indestructible.

;)

I recommend any of the following Glocks for the stated purpose:

Glock 17
Glock 18
Glock 19
Glock 20
Glock 21
Glock 22
Glock 23
Glock 24
Glock 25
Glock 26
Glock 27
Glock 28
Glock 29
Glock 30
Glock 31
Glock 32
Glock 33
Glock 34
Glock 35
Glock 36
Glock 37
Glock 38
Glock 39

I generally don't recommend the "C" models for defense.

You really should shoot them all to make sure you get the right one. The Glock 18 may be a tad on the expensive side.
