    These times, they are-a-changin'!

You said Glock and retro in the same sentence.

Seriously though, I went to the Antique Arms show in Vegas a couple years ago and along with my obvious pistols, I brought a pristine, very early Glock 17.

It was laying in my oak case and when a dealer friend came by he assumed it was a carry piece but I corrected him saying it was for sale but I didn't know what they were worth though I shared my opinion.

After he gave it a once-over, he said to put it below till he got back.

He strolls back over with a Glock *expert* who looked at it quickly and said that I should put over twice what I was intending. When I must have shown incredulity he said that if I still had it Saturday afternoon, HE would buy it at that price if I wished.

Anyhow, Friday rolls by and after several asked to see it, one fella asks if he has to do paperwork? I said yes and he scuttled off to another dealer he knew to see if he'd do the transfer. But first, he gave me $50 OVER the price of the pistol to set it below the table for an hour. After an hour, I could put it up and keep the 50.

    Color me shocked.

    Todd.

I think I read somewhere (one of the industry blogs, maybe) that the MSRP for the P80 will be at least $50 more than the current generation G17.

If these sell well, it'll be further proof that P.T. Barnum nailed it back in the day (and yes, I know, it's never been verified that Barnum ever used the word "sucker" and that John Dos Passos attributed the quote to Mark Twain)...

$650 is currently the lowest price on Gun.Deals but they were $100 cheaper before the current price craziness.

Who would have thought that you could be sitting on a small goldmine with a Gen.1 Glock 17.

When did they stop with the tupperware case? Cause I sold a G17 with that type of box for 400 about 8 years ago to fund a G20. Cant recall the grips or any details. Im not a glock collector.

When Glock was sued because some nitwit shot himself putting a loaded pistol back in the box. Thats when they got the second nickname of "suicide box".

Early Gen3's came in tupperware. The most desirable are those shown above with the little fingers to hold loose rounds.

These have been out for a while now, or they were before the madness started. They are kinda cool IMO. It's the only full size besides a G20 that fits my hand.

It simply amazes me how every time there is a posting about a Glock on any forum someone has to jump in, thumb their nose at Glocks then verbally pee all over the people interested in Glocks or those that own Glocks.
I am sure it’s a psychological affliction intermingled with passive aggressive tendencies and I am sure perhaps and abundance of estrogen to boot. There’s gotta be a study in this phenomena somewhere.

Personally, I would like to handle one of these P80’s to see if I might like to buy one. Problem is, I live in California. Glock would have to jump through hoops to get them on the roster even though they are essentially a Gen 1. We can only buy Gen 3 Glocks here.

Wow. Someone decided to put a gun with a round in the firing chamber in the box...and managed to have it pointed at himself when he did so? Some people really put effort into their "accidents". I will have to be careful, because my Indian Ordnance Works Inglis High Power clone came in a similar box. Of course, I would have to leave the gun cocked and the safety off, but hey, if a thing is worth doing, it's worth doing right!

No, but it must be a psychological affliction that I am compelled to respond. It simply amazes me how defensive some people get when even the most casual mention of their precious Glocks spawn not only amateur psychoanalysis but speculation on another's hormonal levels. "Verbally pee all over the people interested in Glocks...?" Well, kudos to you for a little originality at least. But "passive-aggressive?" Not really feeling that. Still, I don't typically take it to a personal level with slick wordsmithing and sly insults when folks make comments about some of my favorite firearms (well, not so much anymore, anyway).

No apologies due any Glock fanboys because I find it highly amusing that folks will pay a premium for a copy of the first Glock and its little plastic box.

You poor thing; don't buy anything but Glocks because you would encounter the same kind of mental abuse with any other brand.
