What has happened? I get all these explainations from the stores...but now even walmart has nada, zip, ammo.

Are folks buying it that fast? Are the feds buying it up?

    Whats your take?

Supply and demand happened. Normal supply + grossly exaggerated demand = no ammo on shelves.

you just have to be at walmart when the truck rolls in. The guy behind the counter doesnt even know whats going to show up. 2 weeks ago I went in to get a bike helmet. I see a lot of guys walking out with bullets! I go and find 9mm 100 round boxes in stock. So I picked up my 3 box limit. As we were looking for the helmet I came in for. I went back to the counter to ask were the adult helmets were and the girl behind the counter has a case of .45 which is what I perfered. So as my wife comes around the corner, I ask the counter girl to ring my wife up 300 rounds of .45. They told me they even got a dpms AR15 in but it sold before it even got to the display rack. jim

It's bleak here in Stafford, Va as well. Just checked our Walmart his evening and while there was some selection of shotgun ammo available, only a box or two of 30-06' 7mm, 270, and 300 wm could found. Certainly no handgun or 22 of any kind around.

Interesting that even foreign manufacturers are not filling in the gap....When is the last time we even saw RWS, S&B or any of the other good stuff up for sale?

We all went though this before. When Obama got elected the first time ammo disappeared for about a year. I wasn't prepared and had almost no ammo set aside so for most of 2009 I basically couldn't shoot because there was no ammo to be found for the guns I owned.

All I can say is be patient ammo will come back once all the panic goes away. I'm sitting on most of my ammo until things go back to normal but that could take awhile. Manufacturers were already behind production from the 2009 ammo shortage and just when they were starting to get back on track the 2013 ammo shortage hit. I would expect it will take about a year before we see ammo back to normal quantities, maybe more than a year before manufacturers get back to normal production levels again.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the signs being waved on the sidewalks to soon be re-written to read "Cash for Ammo".. or "We Buy Bullets".. Not that I would be selling any. I don't have any to spare; keeping what I've got.
