Got a long slide 6-inch barrel 1911 inbound and need a good belt holster for it. Outside the waist holster, going on a 1.5 inch wide belt. I prefer it to be primarily Kydex or similar polymer though some leather included is acceptable. Covers the trigger guard. Open bottom preferable but not required. No manual retention (straps or latches) just tension. Needs to be a high ride, held close to the body, since I want to be able to sit down and not have the muzzle/bottom of the holster pressed into the seat too much and I want to be able to move actively without it flopping around. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. A matching mag pouch (single or double) would be a nice bonus.

I got a bandolier style holster from Kimber and I recommend them. I love mine. but I was going to buy another, but they are sold out. I will wait till they get some in. may call and see if I can pay for it and just put it on back order .i wear mine bear hunting it is comfortable and I alwas have the Kimber 10 mm long slide close to my hand

The problem is it does not appear either of those are going to cover the entire 6-inch barrel/slide. Ideally I want a holster that covers the entire bottom of the slide and protect the front sight. The front sight on my new gun has a fiber optic in it and it going to get used as a woods/tractor gun with me getting into and out of trucks, UTVs, and the tractor alot.

Ah. I didn’t get that requirement. I’d contact red hill tactical or any of the other quality kydex builders and tell them what you’re looking for.

loved the Kimber bandolier I wrote about, above for Kimber, but now I have a rem r1 long slide, cant find a bandolier that it will fit in. I guess I am going to have to get one custom made. cant even find a holster of any kind that will fit the 6 inch barrel, any ideas ????

I have El Paso Saddlery "Tanker" holsters for a number of guns. Its youre basic WWII GI type chest holster and well done. Not a belt holster, but a number of options and very comfortable.

I absolutely hate breaking in a new holster :cuss:
Rather buy a old second hand hangin by a shred etc. etc. etc.
Am I alone????
I'm not a big fan of how much effort does go into breaking in some new leather holsters, but I prefer that to the possibility of getting a holster from a previous owner who was a one size fits all guy. Using his 1911 holster for a SIG P220 or Glock 21 or Desert Eagle because they are close enough. That holster is never going to work properly for a 1911 again.
