Good news: AP style book now says don't use the term "assault rifle"

Saw this. I don't know if it's good news or not. On the one hand, if all media follows it, it takes a very negative terminology out of the equation. On the other, if the media finally realize that they work just like all other semi-automatic firearms, they may shift to wanting to ban all semi-autos instead of just the wicked black ones.
 
IMHO, too little, too late. Those terms are already deeply indoctrinated into our society. Whatever terms are used to replace those negative terms, will soon also become negative to those folks that have negative feelings towards auto/semi-auto and high capacity firearms. And as before, those folks without negative feelings towards those firearms, will not notice or care what ever term is applied.

They already want that. As a matter of fact, the end game is to ban all firearms.
