VCDL President Phil van Cleave has alerted members of some overwhelmingly lopsided pro-gun votes on gun-related legislation in the Virginia House of Delegates:

"More breaking news! On the heels of the bad news today from the
Senate on SB48 getting out of Finance, here is HUGE good news from
the House. These pro-gun votes weren't even close to failing:

HB530, Delegate Hogan's/Cline's bill to remove all grandfathered
local gun ordinances has passed the House by 82 to 15!

HB215, Delegate Athey's/Abbitt's bill to recognize all other state's
permits was passed by 100 to 0!!! That is going to really send a
message to the Senate! But, it is not a guarantee, so we can take
NOTHING for granted.

HB1205, Delegate Cline's omnibus bill with law enforcement
improvements and that requires to reveal why a permit is denied
passed 100 to 0!

HB1302, Delegate Lingamfelter's bill to allow purchases of long guns
out-of-state passed by 100 to 0!

HB1144, Delegate McDonnell's bill to allow purchases of long guns
out-of-state passed by 87 to 13!

HB1150, Delegate McDonnell's bill to add "storage" of firearms to the
list of things that localities cannot regulate passed by 89 to 11!

HB238, Delegate Nutters bill to recognize permits from states who are
not currently recognized because they have concealed WEAPONS permits
or the allow someone under 21 to get a permit passed by 100 to 0!
Permit is valid only for handguns and the person must be at least 21
years old. HB215 is a better bill, though.

HB382, Delegate Lingamfelter's bill to keep Clerks from releasing a
social security number from CHP applications passed 100 to 0!

HB444, Delegate Suit's bill that says there is no minimum time
required to establish residency passed 100 to 0!

**

All of the above bills are now headed to the Senate and will be in
committee there in a couple of weeks.

We batted 1,000 in the House and 500 in the Senate with anti-gun SB48
and pro-gun SB227 getting out of committee. I wish I had one-tenth
the faith that the Senate will do the right thing as I do of the
House. That is why we will have to really focus on the Senate in the
coming weeks.

I am also getting word that VCDL's massive mailing is now hitting in
the Tidewater area. So those key Tidewater/Williamsburg/Roanoke
senators should be hearing from even more constituents!

I say it again: Tidewater - we need you! If you live in Tidewater
or Williamsburg, get your friends, family, and acquaintances to
contact your senator to support HB579 substitute, the restaurant ban
repeal! If you know any restaurant owners in the Norfolk area have
them call, too. If you belong to a gun club, and Tidewater has some
huge clubs, get the word to all of the club's members. We're in this
fight to win and that is what it is going to take!"

If you're a gun owner in VA, join VCDL!!

Yeah, buddy!! If you aren't a member of VCDL (Virginia Citizens' Defense League), take ye to www.vcdl.org and join up, or at least get onto their mailing list. Between them and the 2nd Amendment Sisters, you will be kept very well informed of what's happening in VA, who's on first, and how to make your voice heard in Richmond. Half their alerts even have sample letters and a list of who to contact - just cut n paste, sign your name and push 'send' - it just doesn't get much easier.

Excellent news! I have met with Scott Lingamfelter at length and every time the discussion was centered around carry permits and the 2A in general. I am very glad to see he is keeping his word - and that is saying something for a politician.

Hey, good job in ole' VA.

And we're not just going to Virginia. We're going to Michigan. And Wisconsin. And Ohio. And Illinois! And Colorado! AND CALIFORNIA! AND MARYLAND! AND NEW JERSEY!

AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO WASHINGTON D.C.! AND WE'LL TAKE BACK THE COUNTRY!

YAAAA AHH!

[Sorry. Couldn't help it. Seriously, good job.]

Yep, if we aren't careful, we're liable to get a state like the founding Fathers envisioned!

Naaahh: still a ways to go.

MAL H: Scott Lingamfelter is a good friend and ex-coworker in the Pentagon. He's truly a good man.

edited to add: it's absolutely stunning to examine the different laws, attitudes and reality just across the Potomac.
