Good Riddance to Dick's

Just found the last thing I ever bought from Dicks. 500 round half case of Blaser 40S&W ammo. Receipt I stuck in the box says I bought it December 2009. Pre-woke. They won't miss my money at all.

I quit shopping at Dick's also. If the one near me closed I won't miss it just like I won't miss Gander if it closes. I don't want people put out of work, but honestly, Dick's and Gander both had the worst customer service when they did sell guns and ammo. I've stood at the gun counter or scope counter in both of those stores and had employees completely ignore me and other customers. Last thing I bought at Gander was my Sig Sierra. I literally was pissed off and leaving the department when the manager stopped me and asked me if I needed anything. I told him "evidently not from your store" and started to leave. He stopped me and calmed me down enough to find out the problem. He went behind the counter and sold me the scope himself, but that's the last time I went in that store. They quit selling guns and ammo a few months later. Academy and Bass Pro still get some of my business, but Gander and Dick's can both go ...... ×<$>@*☆% .... for all I care.

Well Said! When I had gun money, I use to get the stinky eye from gun shops, I dress like I came off a Bread line, and I wear work boots because they are comfortable and protective. Anyways, I always ask to see the good stuff, and they are like, Don’t drop the hammer on the O/U. Until I’m like, I’ll take it and pull out CASH. and process to dry fire like a mad dog… Cuz it my gun now!

Good Customer service is 50% of why I go back.

Your point is a good one, and the way to make them feel the consequences is if they lose a lot of business, but I think since they sell general sporting goods, the loss of gun-owner business is probably not going to make a huge dent.
I'm sure you are correct. I used to spend several thousands of dollars on fishing equipment there every year because they were the exclusive distributors for several brands of tackle I used for my saltwater fishing business. The margins on firearms and quality fishing tackle are modest compared to the profit margins on a $150 fleece jacket with a swoosh on it that it costs $3 to make. I would imagine they make more profit on clothes and accessories than they ever did on firearms.

in retail, a product that lose money or generate very little profit is called a Sales Lost. Example, Costco loses money on each rotisserie chicken they sell, and generate very little $$ on hotdog sales. Lets say, Costco replace their Chicken and dogs with Plant Base version in order to be more Green. Well, then I would stop spending 10’s of Thousand a year one their other stuff.

Who ever is on the Board of Marketing for DSG messed this up bad

When many companies took their PC stand I made note to not step in again. I wasn't a Dick's shopper though about 8 years ago did buy some clothing at a sale there. I would not miss them as their merchandise is duplicated at other stores for what I may be interested in.

I've not been keeping up with Vista Outdoor which was part of this product removal from a variety of retail shops.
