i want to get the aimpoint 9000sc in 2moa and forward mount it on my .45-70 which shoots high power loads (400 grain bullets @2050 fps). I'm just wondering what rings to use. I like the a.r.m.s throw lever rings because they are quick detachable, in a low height so it's not too high. Just wondering if these rings are suitable for heavy recoil and how sturdy the throw lever mechanism is, in other words: how well they hold zero.

I'd get a LaRue mount for it. Quick detachable, and a hell of a lot higher quality than ARMS. I broke a lever off an ARMS mount a few years back that I got in trade, and then I got a LaRue mount and have since purchased several. For my hunting rifles I like Farrell rings and bases, though.

Someone else told me something about ARMS falling apart too on theirs... thanks brother.

Not a lot of fondness for ARMS products around here it seems, I'll second LaRue though.

seems that way.. a.r.m.s looks pretty high quality though. i thought the army uses a.r.m.s

interesting, i knew there had to be some personal reason for all the people who hate a.r.m.s. i'm still gonna go ahead and by them anyway. they are sturdy and i've seen them work for people. i'd like to get larue but i can't justify spending $200. There are many speculations as to why the owners of a.r.m.s would do such a thing as donate to an anti-2nd amendment group.

they are not sturdy, but it's your money.

edit: and i can't remember if that thread mentioned it or not, but they also sued all the mfgs who were making levers for turning scope magnification for 3gunners, because they were calling them 'levers' which violated their trademark.

there are PLENTY of people around with broken ARMS levers. search arfcom, m4c and other places.

You don't reveal what action your firearm is, but based on the chambering, I will assume lever-action repeater or single-shot.

The rings made by Talley will hold under the free recoil generated by a .45-70, and IMO they're a hell of a lot better looking than the ones already suggested to you.

does talley make QD rings? I thought they just made ones you had to have tools to remove. (I like talleys so far, though i have only owned a set for a month now)

It is a lever. yea i've thought about those and others, but i don't wanna get something that is steel, i want an aluminum ring or atleast an aluminum base.. which the a.r.m.s levers have

i have an aluminum base, and my gun kicks a lot, i'm afraid the steel rings may ruin the base
