I've been looking into getting a 50 cal rifle. Its been a while I've fired one and yesterday I got to pull the trigger on a Barrett which I later found out that I can't affot it. So What is an OK brand and doesn't coast 10K?

Check out a Serbu BFG-50.Magnificent rifle, more accurate than a Barrett, made on CNC machining, priced in the low 2K range.Get the optional bipod,it's worth it.And yes,BFG does mean what you think it does.

In the same price range as Serbu you can get the Armalite AR-50. Nice and accurate. BIG and HEAVY. Must be shot from bags or bipod.

I tried to get a picture of me shooting the AR offhand. HAH!!! Couldn't shoulder the thing. Too much weight in the barrel.

So, if you want to carry it or shoot offhand occasionally, the Serbu gets the nod. Bench only I'd go with Armalite as it kicks less.
