Got a spare 1.75 million bucks? Winchester Model 70 serial numbers 1 and 2

I have hard time imagining a buyer for those. People with that kind of money to spend usually order made to fit: Hofer, Purdey, H&H, Fabbri,....

If I had the money to burn, and several other much higher priorities already handled, then sure.

Until then… 🤔

Stay safe.

I am honestly surprised that Winchester sold serial number one. Guess it meant nothing to the company.

Too bad its not ebay. They often have fancy fountain pens in the $250,000 to $500,000 range with no minimum bid. I often bid $25.00 bucks just to annoy the sellers and the hope that someday, somebody makes an error and accepts the bid.

The seller won't get that kind of money. I assume that 1.75 Mil is his reserve. If the guns were N.I.B. with papers...that's a different story, but I still doubt he would get half that much.

A few years back the R.I.A. Company sold a one-off special build Model 70...in 32-20. It was custom made for a Winchester executive. It was the only Model 70 ever made in that caliber, making it the rarest of all the M-70 chamberings.

If I remember correctly, it didn't even reach six figures.

If the seller gets that kind of money, I gotta wonder if there’s more money laundering going on than firearm collecting. Same with the banana art. I just can’t see even serial #1 of an iconic rifle going for that kind of money. I’m with MarshalDodge. There’s a Comanche 260 B or C with Garmins that would have my name on it before those rifles for that price. And all the training I could possibly want. I’m sort of wondering who he’s hoping to sell to. Most of us are pretty much cheapskates.

1KPerDay knows the markets and he also knows that that amount of capital is chump change to some - well healed, that cost is a rounding error.
