• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

I’ve been SLOWLY putting together a small black powder percussion rifle collection over the last 15 years or so. Nothing high end or any historic collectibles. Mostly trying for Thompson Center (TC) Hawkens in various calibers, as well as some of their limited special editions with upgraded stocks…which I’ve not had any luck finding. Also a few CVA’s and a very pristine Tingle.

Anyway, one of the sites I watch consistently has been Track of the Wolf (TOTW). Without fail EVERYTHING I was interested in had a sale pending/Sold icon each and every time I opened the site over the past 2-4 years. “Everything” is an absolute and I don’t use them often or freely.

However, the last two times I was on the site over the past month I noticed ZERO sales pending or Sold icons. Was sitting in living room half hour ago cruising THR and decided to pop over to TOTW.

Several decent TC Hawkens on the site and again nothing with a sale pending. Click on page two and there is a nice looking new Traditions Shenandoah rifle in .36 cal. Comes with the box. A quick look at the accompanying pictures and everything appears good. I’ve been looking for a full stocked version of a .36 cal to go with the TC Seneca .36 cal I bought off a THR member 3-4 years back.

Entered my info. Hit buy and received a confirmation e-mail. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

I had one of those for a few years. It shot great and took several coyotes and many squirrels. You will be happy with your purchase.

Congrats. I am familiar with seeing the "sale pending/sold" sign at TOTW. It's usually on something that wasn't there last time I looked, which means it didn't last long, which means it was probably a good deal!

^^^…price was fair. Not a steal but very reasonable. That I know of Traditions no longer makes this model and it was new old stock, having never been shot.

^^^Yup…how about this. Traditions no longer ‘sells’ this model…

The rifle arrived yesterday. It was triple boxed. A heavy duty shipping cardboard wrap was the outer layer with re-enforced industrial tape holding the ends together, followed by a box of the same heavy duty material.

Inside all of that was the original Traditions box with the original packing supplemented by some insulated pipe foam.

Gun was in ‘new’ unfired condition with zero handling marks, rust flecking etc. Bluing is spotless…could have come off the production line yesterday. Track of the Wolf’s sales ad was accurately written and reflected the rifles true condition.

The hammer is stiff and takes some effort to cock. Set and firing triggers work fine. The ramrod is OEM metal. Gun is heavier than I expected. I suspect this is because the barrel is .36 cal but bored on a barrel capable to also accept .50 cal. Regardless, I’m exceedingly happy with it. Even the wood to my eyes surpassed the sales ad description. Props to Track of the Wolf for a great transaction…

Some pics of the shipping boxes.

Nice gun!

And I love those old glass door knobs too! (3rd generation locksmith here... Those are fairly rare these days.)
