I just got my C&R and am in the process of sending out my license and some dealers want a copy of my photo id. Anyone know why this is? If they can only send to the mailing address on the license for what purpose would they need my id?

Seems odd they'd want photo ID for a transaction that is not face to face. IIRC, I did not need photo ID to apply for a C&R FFL.

Yes, I have gotten this request before by some online dealers. Out of habit I send them a copy of my LTC since we must licensed in Mass to buy ammo etc.

bru333, according to their websites AIM Surplus & Century Arms want a copy of your id.

Century (they took forever to acknowledge my C&R copy), and Aim only need a photo ID from non-FFL holders, if you send them your C&R thats proof enough.

I've ordered guns and ammo from Aim and haven't ever sent them my ID just a copy of my C&R. Notice the ID requirement is in the "ammo purchase requirements" section, and they only require ID if you're not an FFL holder.

Thanks Bru333, I am just sending out my C&R FFL with a note asking them to file it so I can order from them in the future. I will cross the photo id path when I get to it.
