Where ever the good LORD puts me.
It's a Ruger NM Blackhawk and so far I'm hooked! granted I've only shot 50rds through it until I get a set of dies and start reloading for it.

I've heard people saying that the triggers on the new models aren't very good but this one has no creep and breaks quite nice at 3.25 lbs.

Looking forward to using this for woods bumming.

I handled a brand new one a few months back and the trigger was real nice on it. After hearing the same as you (that the triggers were not the best) I am assuming that it is possible Ruger has refined it's trigger a little..... I am sure someone has compared them by now? I am curios to know myself.

1986 vintage, nice pick up! sometimes ya get lucky with the trigger pull on the new models.

suggest you check all the frame screws (and the one at the end of the ejector rod tube) before you shoot it. they have a tendency to work loose.

Yep there is something very satisfying about thumbing those big cartridges in the chambers.

I have never found any reason to use jacketed bullets in my 45 Colts although I do keep my home defense S.A. loaded with Winchester Silvertips just to cover any legal bases.

What perceived legal bases?

Lots of legal beagles say don't use handloads for defensive carry. A matter of the way things are as opposed to the "way they should" be.
Nice piece Hometeached, enjoy.

Nice Blackhawk! Great choice in a .45 Colt single action revolver.

Nice choice. You're gonna love it! Had mine for almost 30 years with the additional 45acp cylinder. The 45 caliber Blackhawks are sweetly accurate and are a hand loader's dream. All my reloads have been with cast bullets, both commercial and ones I molded from wheel weights. A little bullet lube, normal cleaning, and I've never had a leading problem.
