Ok I just got my 229 Back from SIG...the list they sent back says the following"Replace slide assembly, recoil spring and locking inset"

what do they mean by slide assembly? did I get a whole new slide? Also they gave me new sites...they have MP on the markings are those meprolites?

Thanks in advance fellas I am confused

Sometimes SIG will refurb a pistol and use replacement parts from police turn-ins and other sources that have been refinished. I have a 226 that had the same treatment. Dunno if your 229 has a serial# on the slide, but check and see if it matches your frame. Mine came back with a different serial# on the slide, which was "X"ed out.

Oh thats a good point I will look for that...the slide fits a lot tighter than the old one did...I think they replaced it...

I wouldn't be happy if my gun came back with a different serial number on the slide as opposed to the rest of the gun. Now if the slide simply didn't have a serial number, that would be fine. But I would be disappointed if my numbers didn't match. Yes, I am anal about things like that....

Wait a minute - I thought Sigs were perfect, never break down, are tougher than Chuck Norris and help you get girls?

It went back to SIG because something on the underside of the slide was rubbing on something on the lower half of the gun...it was carving into the metal of the slide. I am super happy that they gave me a new slide...!! The sites were moving on the frame during carry also I was shocked they gave me new meprolites.

Havent shot it yet...going to the range today...cant wait!
